my one piece headlights are getting yellow and i wanna know a best and easy way to restore them, make them look like new…the step on the tip section looks kind of complicated.
any one have try a different method that is different than the teg tips…
The teg tip is the best way.
I’ve tried another way and no dice.
Read the reviews before judging by it’s ratings. The 2nd dude probably used a high power drill and didn’t move the buffer around to much and caused burning. Used it on my Caprice, and my dads GS300 and both came out crystal clear. Good thing about this product is it can knock out 6 treatments and has conditioners to keep the headlights from turning ugly. If you wanted to you could charge people $15 to clear up the lights and fully make up for the money you spent on it in the first place.
The best way I know how is to wet sand them with 1000 grit then 1500 grit Then hit them with a high speed buffer. I really hate using headlight clearing kits they always seem to streak and make the headlights look worse than they are
I just did some lights (not one pieces but the process is the same) and wet sanded from 320 up to 1000, then I hit it with a foam buffer and rubbing and polishing compound (turtle wax brand) and finished with plastic polish.
what kind of compound u use on the buffer???
they sell stuff kinda like rain ex but better and stronger…i cant remember what is called but you can find it at like autozone in the detailing section and all you do is rub it on…like a couple diff coats and it pulls the yellow off…works pretty nice
oh yeah that ^ there is only like 5 bucks at most
sand them with 800 grit and put clear coat on them. Not the fake shit real car clear coat. You will spend a lot less time sanding and it will protect from heat better. If not then the alternative is to sand and use the compound. I think both of these are good methods to get the haze out. Anything else you see in the store doesn’t work.
do u know whats the brand name???
meguire makes this cleaning solution and polisher that i used on a few of my customers cars and it works wonders, i can’t think of what it’s called but i know there’s a white bottle that has a mustard looking solution and a blue bottle that has a grayish white solution
make sure the clear inside part is not burnt from the fogs…if it is its traash!!
u talking from the inside of the headlights…theres no way to fix that or wat?..even tho i dont think its burnt…
itll be discolored on the inside…if you don’t see it too dark i don’t think you gotta
worry…but if so u can’t get it off…
do i have to sand it down before putting the compound…or just put it like that with out sanding…
you can do it without sanding but if u sanded it would probably be better
I did this…
powerball + turtle polishing wax… + drill…
marcos, go to the autozone and buy some meguiars Plast-Xi think it’s like $10 i’ve used it and it worked well for light yellowing.
thanks for ur advice gil…thats what amma try to do this weekend coming up…
hey give me the steps how u did it cause i want this to work well with me too…
Just did my g3 with PlastiX, Looks okay. Cost $1.00 for a small packet at AutoZone.
