One wheel lock on my passanger rear wheel has shattered and half is left. The nut has no parts what so ever to grab a hold of. I have ADR wheels with those small tuner holes that makes space impossibly tight.
My options so far:
To drill the stud away and remove the wheel. Thus replacing the stud.
Use an air chisel to destroy what is left of the lock. A big chance of destroying the wheel as well.
I would prefer to drill away the stud and replace it. I just want to know what kind of work am I looking at when replacing the stud? Also, will I just be able to replace the single stud or would I have to replace the entire rear wheel hub unit? What is the price of a rear wheel hub unit?
Just drill it out and replace the stud. You can replace each stud individually. I believe the stud from acura is like $2 or so i cant remember. You will have to remove the brake caliper and rotor. Then you would have to get a sliding hub puller to pull the hub off(theres a possiblity of messing up your wheel bearings). From there just hammer whatever is left of the stud and hammer in a new one but not all the way. Then use washers and a lugnut to finally seat the the lug. Then put everything back together. Or if your lazy and dont want to do the work just take it down to a competent tire shop and they will do it for like $30 or so.
