Wheels America: flat rate $120, full refund if they cannot fix your rim, but they request a full payment when you bring the rim in. You don’t speak to any of the workers because they work during the evenings only and they’re busy fixing rims. They probably WON’T be able to fix your rim, and it will take a few weeks for you to get a refund, even after they say you’ve been refunded.
Wheel Techniques: Onsite quote. You have to bring in the rim (normal 8:30 to 5:00pm shop time) and talk with the mechanic. The price depends on how extensive the damage is to the rim. They also offer painting, powdercoating, and polishing.
I went to the Wheels America first, and they said I had to wait to see if the rim could be fixed, it took about 3 days for them to get back to me and say that it couldn’t be fixed. I had to call them again to do my refund because they hadn’t done it automatically.
I went to wheel techniques and not only did they have the guys who would repair it in the shop, they gave me a quote in 10 minutes. They said it could be done, and they’d try to keep the sticker on the rim that wheels america said would have to be removed no matter what. The price depends on how much damage is done, but they do not bullshit you. They also do package deals for powercoating, painting, and polishing rims. Wheels America has NONE of those services.
I don’t work for these guys or anything, I just don’t want anyone else to go through all the crap of wheels america.
