When to add fuel additive

Is there a “best time” to pour some fuel additive into the tank? There aren’t any instructions on this LUCAS bottle. I checked some other brands and they say to add it to an empty tank immediately before you fill it up.

Does it matter or what? I think the empty tank is a good idea because the new fuel will agitate and therefore mix more consistently with the additive.

I have always added it while filling up so there’s not a big concentration on the bottom of the tank and the action of addingfuel should mix it up good. I think as long as you add it to an eventual full tank of gas all is bueno

and I use RXP about once every 5-6 tanks- I’ve never heard of LUCAS additive maybe i just dont remember. Is there a link anywhere to a fuel additive comparison?? Which one’s the best?

Check the video footage he has. The site isn’t all that well laid out, but you’ll learn a lot of info.

Search further in that site and you will find Auto-RX which is better than Lucas.

Yes I know there’s stuff better than Lucas. Lucas was the only one I was able to find here.

I suggest for the both of you to visit the new message boards. You’ll find me lurking there already.

well, i sued the lucas additive and now my car is stumbling like crazy and will not run. it will idle fine for a bit but once i step on the gas, it stumbles and will not go above 1500 rpm. i added it with more than 3/4 tank of gas. the thing said to pour the entire bottle into the tank.

after pouring it in, it drove fine for about 2 miles then started stalling on the freeway. i wonder if the lucas treatment did it… i’m still trying to figure it out

You do know that this thread is 5yr’s old right?

At least he used the search function.

i just thought i’d add my two cents. i found the thread somewhat useful after 5 years. maybe someone else will.

gilcontr, are you the one that found out it was your rotor that had come loose, and not the fuel additive that was your problem?

yes
