Where to get tune-up parts?

I just ordered a B16a1 for my 91 Integra. What I want to know is when I ask for parts like timing belts, pvc valves and other nick nacks, what car should I ask for? I tried buying spark plug wires for a 95 del Sol VTEC and they were different from a 99 Honda Civic Si. I don’t want to blow up my motor in the first week. And please, don’t reply if the only thing you’re going to say is “Do a search on the forum” because I have and there isn’t anything. And please don’t add to a forum if you really don’t know what you’re talking about. A lot of replies on this forum pertains to telling someone to look for the answer in the archives. If everyone tells everyone to look in the archives, no one is ever going to get an answer. Thank you.

do a search in the forum . but clarify your search don’t just put like b16a pcv or something like that. the idea is pretty basic. if what you need to replace is on the engine or intake manifold (if you swap it) then you’ll need the part for the b16a engine. since you prob have a b16a1 it won’t be the new SI equipment. stuff like spark plugs, wires, pcv etc etc that are all on the engine are b16a1. if not then it’s your orginal stuff. just curuious did you buy the car with a b16a1 in the car or did you get someone to do it for you?

Doesn’t help…

That really doesn’t help at all. I appreciate the effort but it doesn’t. I still don’t know what to say when I walk into a parts store and I’m looking for a timing belt for my B16a1. Is it going to be the same? Someone who has actually done it, please respond. And I put the motor in myself.

I have no idea what RevVaTeg said, but the parts I’ve been buying for my engine have been parts for a 92 GSR.

… you would basically get the parts for a delsol. not sure what is hard to see??? most honda/acura parts are almost all interchangable anyways.

Still not the right stuff

I went in to buy a distributor rotor and distributor cap for my B16a. I asked for the parts for a 1993 Integra GS-R. They’re not the right parts. So that didn’t work. Anyone else who has actually bought the right parts want to help please?

i might be able to help

injector seals (replace em!): crx si

everything else related to the motor get for that specific motor. like go to auto zone be like “hey i need ngk plugs for my car” and then they ask what car and you say 95 del sol vtec…

the only thing that comes to mind for the motor/delivery thats NOT for that specific motor are the injector seals listed above.

if you need specifics just ask me what needs replaced and ill find out

peace.

Most of the parts from a 95 del sol will work. Just be careful when you get parts that changed when the on board diagnostics (OBD) changed. You need non-obd parts for some of the stuff. It takes a while to learn everything you need to know, but you will get it down eventually.
If you ever come across something that you need help on just post up and we can help you out and eventually you will remember everything you need to know.

Go to inlinefour.com they got the goods give 'em a call

If you want parts for that engine I wouldn’t suggest any type of name brand store (kragen, pep boys) unless you know what exactly the part looks like. I bought spark plug wires for mine (same engine B16) told them the wires were for a 90 Integra and I got the wrong ones. You will be surprised to find that not a lot of places carry the right parts. When you go to get your parts ask the guy if he knows what a B16 is. If he doesn’t he probably won’t be able to help you with the Distributor cap, rotor, water pump and starter and maybe the spark plug wires. I went to Honda and got a cap that looked perfectly identical (after 2 other distributor caps that didn’t fit), little did I know when I try to put it on there’s on piece of metal coming out of my distributor that the cap didn’t have an identation for. I would suggest a auto parts store that has probably some younger looking asian guys (nobody better get offended from that :tsk: ) working it because they usually know what a B16 is. There’s a store called Walnut Auto and they got all my parts.

So don’t go to Pep Boys (just an example) if you want any major type of things because they probably won’t fit. Just get engine fluids and spark plugs there.

If you go to Honda tell them your engine is from a Civic in Japan and it’s an 88-91 DOHC VTEC engine.

Find an auto parts place that the people know what a B16 is. Or just ask someone online and buy it off of them.

Hope that helped a little.

like i said earlier, anything your need for a usdm b16 for your engine, ask for the part for the car your engine came out of, not your car. common sense.

Finally figured it out…

On my own… For anyone else who is having the same problem. Don’t buy stuff for a GS-R or VTEC. They aren’t the same. You need a distributor for a 91 Integra, distributor rotor for a 91 Civic Si and plugs and wires for a 93 GS-R. All the oil filters are the same so just ask for the same one as your car. Us “slower” guys need to be guided by the hand sometimes.
