So I have a B18C1 engine with an A1 transmission. I’m trying to replace the clutch assembly, but I’m not sure which year and model does this A1 transmission correspond to. Any help?
You have a 91 it says in your profile, and i have an A1 tranny also, it uses a 90-91 integra clutch kit. you can find good deals on exedy replacement clutches on ebay, and some even come with fidanza flywheels. Best of luck.
thank you
you have the extra funds to change trannies?
not right now, but you have suggestions? can always save money up for the next mode
personally i would ditch the LS trans for a ‘vtec’ trans. b16, b18c1, etc something of that nature. in your situation you would be better finding a b16 cable trans
what is the b16 trans gona be helping me on?
Oh, no, here we go. The proverbial short vs. long geared tranny war.
A “Vtec” tranny as he calls it is a short geared tranny. It will give you higher revs, which means quicker acceleration. The downside is it’s not too great for the daily driver. Especially when you consider that you’ll be ridin out in 5th gear @ 80mph in the 4300-5000rpm range. Can you say WWWWAAAAAHHHHHHHH???
You, like most of us, probably have the long geared version. Great torque, good for the street. Add to it & you can pull on alot of mofos out there.
The other option many consider is putting a long geared trannie’s 5th gear in a short geared tranny. The reason being is a supposed “best of both worlds” situation. Many say it works, some say it doesn’t.
If you have the money to swap trannies you can, but I’m curious; what are your intentions w/ this project? Everyday rider, track star, strip slut? Your intentions will determine the path you choose.
:getsome: :manual:
but mine is an A1, and it runs 3000rpm @ 60mph. this sounds like the short trans u discribed… I admit it’s good tourq, but I’m shifting all the time, and it uses more gass if I go on high ways.
i have an exedy stage 1 with pressure plate for sale for a 90/91
how much r u selling it? can you email me with price and photos?
xxfile…you have a long geared tranny A1, not short. are you sure you even have a B18c1 in you car??? all kidding aside, you should swap out the a1 tranny for a b16 tranny if you got the dough…that would go great with that ‘gsr’ motor. get the b16 tranny and go on ebay and get yourself a XTD stage 2 or 3 clutch kit w/ lightened flywheel combo(cheap) and you should see a signifacant improvement in overall performance. DO IT!!

+1 on shifterkart1
but its all up to u on the xtd i installed a xtd stg 3 on mine 3 weeks ago and it grabs so hard that it feels like its about to rip the motor out the car but i like it though cu puts the power where it need to be…on the ground
on the clutch…mine b16 tranny wasnt badge so i ha to take the tranny out to find out if it had the 90-91 or 92 n up splines
how much does that b16 trans run? I’m sure I have a B18C1. that’s what it says on the motor.
check ebay it will give you a round about figure.
i know my c1 trans runs about 600
still interested? lmk
So my clutch died yesterday, and I was checking on Ebay, and there’s exedy stage 1 racing clutch, and there’s exedy stage 1 organic clutch. Which ones do you guys think works better?
b16 cable tranny runs anywhere from $300-600 max as in good shape.
I Bought one last week for $400 and installed it and its wonderful but like they say hwy sucks.
Check this thread I made
So, question for you guys. My transmission is pretty hard to get in gear, I took it to a shop yesterday and the person told me that it’s not the clutch but rather something in the transmission is broken. He says I pretty much need a new transmission or I can rebuild this one.
Well, I found this one, does this work on my car? I have a B18C1 Engine
