Which engine is in a '90 GS? & wheels question...

And is it the same as the one in the LS and RS? I’ve seen a lot of mention of B16a, B18a etc… I’m guessing the 16 is 1.6 liter? Anyway, I’m new to alla this and trying to figure out where my car is at and what I can do to it…

I’ve got a '90 Integra GS that I’ve recently decided to fix up… I’m also curious as to whether there is a supercharger kit that works with my year integra… any info and suggestions are greatly apreciated =)

Oh yeah, the wheels… I’m considering a set of 16x7 Rage Breaker rims with either 215/40 Roadhugger Rage tires or 215/40 BF Goodrich euro TA’s. Does anyone know about these rims and tires? I’m getting the set through Discount Tire, so they’ll be accompanied with a great warranty… but I’d rather not waste $1000 on a bad decision…

Great board btw, I’ve already learned a great deal browsing through it. Oh yeah, and this is my first post =)

RS,LS,GS all have the same motor: non vtec b18a. (1.8 liter).

GS-R comes with a b17a1 1.7 L VTEC.

as for the supercharger, one member did it on his VTEC engine, but it was ALOT of work to get it to fit. there isn’t one specifically designed for gen2 tegs (as far as i know). if you want to go forced induction, TURBO would be the way to go (although it will cost you alot of money to do it correctly) make sure you hang out in the forced induction forum for a bit before making any decisions.

nice to have you aboard. oh yeah, use the search fxn, it really will help answer questions that may come up in the future.

peace

all rs/ls/gs engines are the same. the stock engine is the b18a1. next time check the “Stock Integra Specs” part of the website, there is all kinds of good info there.

as of yet there is no supercharger available for the G2, they just plain old don’t fit. however you can go turbo.

as for wheels, i know nothing of rage, but they aren’t a huge company… or at least not a hugely popular one. Personally i hate the Euro TA’s. I’m not sure how well they handle, but man they’re an ugly tire. The warranty from discount tire is nice, but their prices on things are a good deal higher than other stuff you can find online.

I would suggest going with a 205/45 tire on a 16" rim… 40 is gonna be a little small and the ride is gonna be a lot rougher!

There’s only a 7% difference in sidewall hieght between a 205/45 and a 215/40… is that really that much of a difference? The other thing I’m faced with is that 215’s only come in 40 for 16" rims, and there are also more tire options… but ride is a definite consideration. Thanks for the feedback everyone, & I just found the front page today, so I didn’t know there was a specifications section until now (no link to it from the boards here).

On the question of turbo vs. supercharger, from everything I’ve read it seems a supercharger fits better with the way I drive and the kind of power output I desire. I’m looking at that as a tail-end mod; I’m planning on starting with the heads and cams, then headers and exhaust/intake. I’m hoping to hit 200hp NA, although that might be a little ambitious on my budget =)

Welcome to the board. Enjoy your stay. Have you intently perused through the Engine Hybrid, Forced Induction, and G2IC Archives for information? As you’ll read on and find out more, you’ll notice why there is no supercharger for our Tegs (no market for it). Have you even driven a Turbocharged car? As for hitting 200HP NA, you will find it very difficult on a B18A engine. Many people in this club go with a B16A or a LS/VTEC mod in order to achieve those numbers. But don’t let that discourage you. Just be aware that most people here go with the cost-effective route.

Have fun,
