Guys and gals, I’ve already selected my intake and I’m moving on to selecting a header now. I’m on a budget so I’ve been considering the Chikara painted header and the Megan Racing Stainless Steel header. What can you guys tell me about these 2? I’m not building a race car, but I’m trying to make my sedan a bit quicker. Thanks

i have a 4-2-1 HP racing header btu since it was on the car when i bough it i dont know how much it was or wheer to get one but it works great for me. Megan racing a new company and prices are of the cheaper side but i had a megan muffler (and still do on my mazda) and it was top notch quality, full SS, welds had perfect seems and it sounded great
how so? can u give us more info then “they suck”. ive been considering them too, and from what ive heard on the boards, the stepped ones give good low and midrange power.
this is what ive read before as well… they dont give you any peak HP or torque but give you better low end and mid range power…
I have an HP racing Header too! It helped quite a bit (noticable) with top end power. In my opinion go with it they don’t cost to much either, and yes Chikara does suck, one of my buddies got one and it sucked so he sold it, and now he has HP also! I don’t know how comptech performs but i’ve heard great.
I can back him up on this, back in the day i bought a chikara header and have been robbed of hp badly. I can almost say for sure that my stock 90’ ls header outflows the crappy chikara. The primaries on it are the smallest ive seen. I would compare the header to a d-series, the d-series would probably put it to shame. What sucks is that i had to re-use this anchor on my b20 swap, and we all now b20’s like to breath, but soon enough ill be sporting a DC jdm 4-1 header with 2.5 SS k-teller piping.
my ls-vtec will eat your b20’s ass, my buddy has a b20 and its slow as shit, so unless you are a genius or have built the hell outta it i dont think i’d take the time to build it
the chikara is ass by far. i blew out the gasket (the one between the manifold and down pipe) twice and they gave no power. :down: to them

Although this thread has taken a turn down the road to Stupidville with the b20/vtec nonsense, I will make a brief on-topic plug for the DC Sports Ceramic 4-2-1 header which is beautiful and effective.
I have the chikara, and I have a Vibrant JSPEC 4-2-1.
I compared the two (and will have pics this weekend of the two side by side during the install) and I can tell you, the Chikara is very tiny. The primary pipes are so tiny that they can fit INSIDE the new Vibrant primaries, with about .2’’ to spare. Its sort of comical. The O.D of the Chikara piping is about 1.5-1.6’’, the I.D of the Vibrant is 1.75’’.
I didnt lose any power or anything when installing the header, but I seriously doubt I gained more than 1-2hp. It should be noted that I ported the hell out of the flange and the 4-2 collector.
I hear good things about the stepped version boosting low end torque and making a fatter powerband (althought not making any more peak power)

well you are right about the hp, but the torque is much higher. i used my teg cams with dc sports header(which works very well, on topic) greddy exhaust, cai and lightweight fly and im doing some really good numbers. with more torque.
but i have the dc sports ss header and i noticed a good difference with that. found it for $250 on ebay.
YEAH! duh I’m jokin’, (and my buddy lied to me,told me he got a b20 but he didn’t) but why don’t i hear of anyone putting vtec on b20’s (is it bcuz of lower revs?or will it work?)
