I was under the impression that pretty much close to everything was still available for these cars…
Almost anything cosmetic is discontinued: windshield, window/windshield moldings, most of the rubber bits in the engine compartment, interior panels & carpet, coolant reservoirs…etc Basically all the stuff that begins to show age, deteriorate, or always gets damaged during removal. I recently “restored” my engine bay during my engine swap and I had a hell of a time getting replacement parts, trying to find new ways to restore old parts…etc. Luckily my car was in pretty good shape so I could reuse a lot of parts but not everyone is that lucky and even in my situation there were parts I simply could not replace and was S.O.L.
…even in my situation there were parts I simply could not replace and was S.O.L.
Ya, just noticed where you live… guessing that in CA the cars have a longer life, and small parts are in higher demand. In the Midwest, you can probably get it (well, only if it does not rust, LOL). I think I may start a thread, b/c I am guessing there are other ppl in my situation - cant store it all,
This summer I saw a new, o/s I assume, windshield on ebay, so if those are really all gone, I am guessing I should have snapped it up, (chuckle).
Yeah windshields are discontinued and the aftermarket options aren’t all that great. I think it’s impossible to find a quality one that is the right color with no sunshade. I need to replace mine and haven’t done so because I can’t find a suitable replacement. A friend who is restoring a DB2 from the ground up also wasn’t able to find one and ended up getting a used one after a year or so of searching. His project is show car quality though, so he’s being picky. Wish I would have known there was one on ebay, my buddy would have bought it for sure.
I believe the 92-93 GSR will one day become valuable due to the rarity, 1st affordable VTEC in US. But who knows
…my buddy would have bought it for sure.
Nope, if I had known they were not available, I would have snapped it up (mine is chipped, from when some idiots threw bricks at the car while it was parked… )
Btw, you are starting to scare me, 2 yrs ago when I first got this car running after it sat for 6~7 years, everything I needed seemed not just available, but cheap (!) So far I have only broken two small bolts and a couple plastic clips so that seemed about normal for the car being 20+ years old.
(I am not doing any kind of show-quality restore, just replacing what I need, with new or used parts)
It’s astounding how fast some of these parts are going from simply hard to find, to Discontinued.
Recently I went through this while trying to source all new OE emblems for my car.
It went from only the “Integra” badge being discontinued, to them ALL but for the rear “A” being discontinued.
Let alone, as Colin said, the parts that show age and deteriorate faster. They’ve been scooped up by now.
Same story with the bumper plugs. I had no idea they were as sought-after as they are. I consider myself lucky to have gotten (seemingly) one of the last BNIB sets from the dealer, as they’ve been Discontinued for a few years now.
