Which Knock Sensor for B20 vtec

I’m building a B20 vtec for my LS teg, and am not sure which knock sensor to use. I’ve heard people say to just disable it in the ecu, but I don’t think that to be too wise if you want your motor to last. I’ve searched around for the answer, and haven’t found anything definitive. The block is a B20b, head is PR3 B16, and the ecu is a Pw0 that will be chipped and tuned with BRE.

well i can say this im running an ls vtec on a pw0 ecu and only code im getting is O2 sensor and thats do to no being connected… if ur going to run a knock sensor get a block that has one in it or tap on in (which i wouldnt do)
but my pw0 is not chipped or anything cause i still have the Speed govener at 113 mph :frowning:

Ok,

if you have a B series vtec ecu, and not a p28, then it’ll come with KS, and just use a b18c KS on the block.

you dont really need a knock sensor, because the OEM one is pretty slow anyways. basically by the time it starts working, your engine is already knocking.

another reason why most people don’t worry about it is because they are running engine management like hondata or crome and use the p28 ecu which does not have KS, when tuned properly though, your car should not have big knocking problems.

If you are rebuilding an engine for hi-comp. I wouldnt really bother with it if your car isn’t equipped with one. I used to run one as well, and now I don’t have one… and my car runs better w/o it. but this is just my personal experience.

yea i need to get my motor tuned i’m running stock b20vtec with a gsr ecu and i got a knock sensor on every few weeks it throws the knock sensor code

I think I’ll just go ahead and disable it then if it won’t be useful to the dependability, or longevity of the motor… It seems kind of gay to even have it if it doesn’t do anything to protect the motor. I was under the impression that it actually detects detonation and retards the timing to protect from further detonation.
