Which racing buckets should i buy?

personal experiences welcomed.

looking at non reclinable buckets, preferably FIA cert, and narrow fit. ( im a skinny bastard)

Bimarco Dakar’s: ( i know not many people even know of them, but they have been around, and popular in the euro rally world)

or MOMO start’s:

both around the same price, and FIA cert’d. leaning towards the Bimarco’s due to their tighter fit…thoughts? any other options i should be considering??

That first one says it’s for larger people, and personally, I think they’re ugly :frowning: What’s your budget before shipping/tax?

I’m not a huge fan of Sparo, I’ve had a Sparco Speed or Sprint (always get those mixed up) for a long time and quality isn’t great - however the newer ones look to be a bit better in quality. Personally I really like Cobra. They don’t have the fancy name that everyone wants, but they’re arguably the best seat for the dollar at pretty much every price point. I am currently using an older Cobra Monaco and it’s a great seat, looking to upgrade to the Cobra Suzuka whenever I have the cash and don’t need to buy things like pads, tires…etc One nice thing about the Cobras is that all of their “shell” seats are kevlar, whereas most other manufacturers only use this in their higher end seats, the lower end shell seats are just fiberglass and aren’t as strong (safe). If I wasn’t going with Cobra, I’d be looking at Recaro.

yeah, the description for the dakar is a bit off, as when you look at the actual specs for the seat it lists it as 350mm wide, in the “seat” area i assume. think it’s their narrowest seat. yeah the stock pic on the site is pretty ugly! i was thinking all black. i just got rid of the pair of red sparco sienna’s i had in the car. i never really liked the way they fit in the car - too high.

budget wise - im in the 700 ish range for both seats. the bimarco’s are on the 'bay for 299 ea. + 89 shipping. they are listed as buy it now, or “make an offer”, and i have read that people have gotten them for about 50 less per seat by making an offer…

funny you mention cobra, as i know they are awesome seats. loooong story short - my buddy has one suzuka pro, and a regular suzuka, that i might be able to get for a song, like well under 500 for the pair. but, they need some love, i’d have to recover them. doesnt scare me though…

That price is fantastic for the Suzukas. I’d contact the guys at Sube Sport and see how much it’d cost to buy just the fabric and then recover them yourself. I know the bottom seat cushion is able to be ordered separate from the seat for ~$130.

yeah, im loving the idea of the Cobra’s, just have to see if my buddy is willing to part with them. as for covers, i contacted cobra directly, over in the UK. they want $250 per seat for new covers…

so sube sport has the fabric?? ill check them out. i was alternatively thinking about some sort of alcantara fabric, either the real stuff from Gulf fabrics, or an ultrasuede. i know there are a ton of “synthetic suede” options available from online, and local fabric stores, but feel they might not be durable enough for a seat material.

I wouldn’t think they have it, but if it’s available separate I’m sure they can get it. As far as I know they’re the only US distributor of Cobra. I actually found a 2nd hand Suzuka the other day, which basically never happens, only to find out that it’s the wide version and won’t fit me :frowning: I was super disappointed.
