Ive got a 93 teg swapped with a gsr with a B17 aem intake due to having a skunk2 intake manifold. When i drive it I got wierd whistling sounds coming from the engine bay. It only does it under load and only when cruising. If you go from cruising to putting your foot into it the whistling goes away. I thought it might be the holes on the Aem intake for the little vacuum lines and what not but I plugged those with rubber plugs and i still hear it. Any ideas anyone?
It’s the intake.
:werd:
How can I fix it?
Put on stock intake.
Its the skunk2 manifold…even with stock intake it will make that sound
How is it the manifold? Thats straight up rediculous.
I get the same thing right at 3000 rpm under load, dosnt realy bother me thought.
Yeah. I can live with it. But I just think thats pretty gay.almost 300 dollar manifold and it makes noises? I thought I bought quality
the sound is coming from the manifold because the runners are bigger…
So because the runners are bigger that is the whole reason why its whistling? and there is no way to fix that?
its not bcuz of the skunk2 IM. even my stock EVERYTHING made that whistling noise cuz the stupid grommet over one of the holes was beaten up quite a bit that it didn’t seal all that much. so the air passing by that lil opening made the whistling noise. its like blowing over the opening of a bottle. same concept. check all those grommets and ur intake manifold and the couplers. those lil stupid lines from the purge solenoid and from the dashpot, i think i’ve read that its ok to leave unhooked but well… if there r holes, either plug them or hook em up. if u still have whistling after everything is pretty much sealed from the intake manifold all the way up to the filter. then it’ll prolly come from the filter area itself cuz of flow.
Sweet thanks alot. I will check this all out!
I popped my hood re tightened everything and the whistle is coming straight out of the filter… This is starting to bug me. anyone know anything I can do? I feel like I did a Ricer mod because its almost like jank!
A solution has already been given.
solution - sell it to me and ill give you my oem one…lolz j/k…like ppl say its your IM, it aint no hoses or other things…get use to it or sell it, i would say.
LoL, if you haven’t really noticed yet, alot of Honda’s kinda whistle with an aftermarket intake on.
That’s the the stock OEM resonators (and those weird “J” looking pipes) are for.
i get a whistle when i give a certain amount of gas in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and barely 4th. my trans was just rebuilt so i know its not that. ive got a b16 w/ an itr intake manifold & a short ram. drives me crazy sometimes
i dont know what your trying to fix. an aftermarket cone air filter will make that whistling sound. if you dont like it, put the oem air filter back on with the resonator. theres nothing to fix.
