Its a subject i like everyone to take part in so go to the scrap yard or trunk scales and let me know what u weigh in at. I took my 91 gs and weight in at 2134 without me in it.
interesting. Mine weighes in at 2268 without me. thats with everything stripped and removed sunroof. Did you hit gold somewhere? were did you find that extra 100lb?
i cut the spare tire well and put a piece of alluminum and got a 4 gallon racing fuel cell from summit
Pics of your car or ban.
i try to figure out how to upload pics from my camcorder
2134 seems totally doable to me. Mine is around 2280 with a full cage and fire extinguisher plus full tank of gas, and I haven’t done my battery, hood, hatch and rear quarter glass, body undercoating, etc.

Nice… that was going to be my next upgrade. To remove the fuel tank and add a fuel cell.

rear quarter glass doesnt weigh anything. you’ll find most of your weigh savings from changing the rear glass itself to fal.
when i have the time i remove the stock drive and passenger seat and put in my racing seat in which is 18 pds with brackets and take the sunroof out and weld in my sunroof alluminum insert and put in my fiberglass hood, fenders, and front bumper i let my fellow g2 brothers know the weight. future plans will be fal front window, pexiglass windows for the rest and a fiberglass hatch, rear bumper and doors. B18C wit 13.8 compression wit gsr tranny and type r final drive tuned on 110 octane but it has to be future cause i miss my turbo DA for daily driving cause i already got a ticket for illegal muffler due to my straight pipe. my camcorder is giving me trouble but i promise i have the pics up asap
my 93 RS with a b16 weighs in at 2394 without me in it. only things removed when I last weighed it was a/c p/s. just stripped the rear interior out about a month ago and removed all the sound deaden, gonna buy a FAL rear glass and carbon truck, replace stock crossmember with aftermarket traction bar, turbo kit going on should add a bit of weigh back to it though:squint:
nice turn out so far wit this chat. i like all the feedback so far but i wish more people will come post if they love losing weight, see its a big part of making ur car perform better lol plus it is free if u do it right. i member everyone in the car seen in milwaukee thought tegs r slow cause with them dropping Ls/Vtec in EF hatches and few others everyone knows that produce low 14 sec cars and sometimes high 13s but am showing them already not to under estimate tegs
hey guys i have the pics up tomorrow of my car
2450 w/ driver & full interior and sunroof
perfect…
With or without driver?
2190 with 1/4 tank and pretty much entire interior gutting.
aside from the dash, headliner and a-b-c pillars, ive taken everything out.
no sound deadening, no tar, almost every weather seal is gone.
no ABS, no PS, no AC.
interior panel mounts, seat brackets and random unused flanges all removed
interior wiring harnesses have been trimmed down to under 1lb from almost 10lbs
aside from FAL quarters and a few aluminum bits here and there, the car is mostly stock
im thinking about getting some CF body panels, but the price vs weight savings has me buggin. especialy since i cut almost 400 lbs for free.
has anyone weighed their stock suspension components against aftermarket parts? im wondering if there is any weight savings in that area, i would love to get some unsprung weight off the car.
wheels and tires are next, there are some new wheels from the tire rack for spec miatas that are 15x7 +25 at 13lbs for under 100 each, thats my kind of weight savings!!
i dont know if the fitment is right, but theyre so light!
lots of places to save in suspension. you can even get titanium bolts instead of steel if you want.
brake rotors
CF body panels; just do the trunk and hood.
OMG Its Weasel, I dropped around 10 lbs total from my springs and dampers by switching to Koni 8041 series dampers + Eibach racing springs. I think most of the weight loss was due to the springs being much shorter.
It’s in the weight spreadsheet that I put up here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ai6yQQW6nneqcEt4b29MNE0yOTFla3RSVnVhbE10Tmc&hl=en
I haven’t tried the Spec Miata wheels you mentioned, but the Kosei K1-TS has worked well for me. Just over 12.5 lbs in 15x7, and they’re the right fitment for our cars. A little bit pricier at $134 from Tire Rack. The Enkei RPF1 is even more expensive ($199), but under 10 lbs a corner.
With me in it and 100lbs Ballast to meet weight requirements Im at 2350lbs.

949 racing makes a spec miata wheel too, pretty light, they sell it with different hub bore fitments also, miata, ford and honda iirc.
ive been thinking about finally pulling the trigger on some suspension stuff. i guess an alarm will be shortly after that… boo to extra crap
