Tonight while I was on this forum my wife was pulling out
of the parking lot where we park, and she scraped up my
front driver side bumper BAD. I just got my car painted, and
I could tell she felt bad, so I played it cool but I am soooo
pissed. Anyway, my question to all is what should I do?
First of all My wife and I have seperate insurance.
If I report this accident to her insurance company, her insurance
will go up, and she has damage that she wants to repair, so
that makes it even worse!
Should I just dip into savings and not report the accident, to
save us money in the long run?
I don’t know man, but I’m really upset right now…
Any opinons would help fellas…

I have the lowest coverage, and she has full coverage…

its better if you dont report it anyway, and just pay out of your own pocket. insurance company’s are scammers. you’ll end up paying more in the long run when they raise your wife’s insurance payments. and you mentioned that she was already getting her car fixed by insurance right? take a deep breath, calm down, and just pay for it… you’ll be better off in the long run.

I have been trying to convince my wife that it makes more sense for me to dip into savings and repair the car. She just does
not want me to do it. I know it does not make any sense.
My wife just keeps saying to report it, and that’s that. She does not want me to dip into savings for this repair…
Anyway, it’s too late to turn back now because I already called
the incident in. I really feel bad now, and I feel as if she really
didn’t want me to report it. What do you guys think?
She says she doesn’t care about the insurance going up,
and she pays car insurance to protect herself for incidents like
this. But I AM HER HUSBAND!!! I know this is strange, but this
is what she wants…

Well she probably said that because she felt bad enough knowing that you had just painted your car and probably sensed that you were pissed.
So she said what she felt you wanted to hear, the guys are right she’s your wife and that is through thick and thin (unless she hits the DA. J/K).
I remember when my girlfriend’s mom hit my car while backing out
(no dents or deep scrapes just left her cars paint all over my bumper).
she probably thought that i was gonna go berzerk or something cause she came in with 200 dollars in her hand for me. Being the man that i am i refused her money and said i’d take care of it. Her dad who previosly hated my guts started talking to me more often and inviting me to have beer with him.
I would honestly feel bad if i was in your wifes shoes but remember either way you ended up paying for it since your money is her money

There was only one smart man-- whoever suggested to report it as a hit and run. You pay only your deductible, that is it. Use your wife as a witness, I would add
