I just got my 215/45/16 Hankook RS2 Z212s mounted.   Autocross this weekend. Eat my dust NWR STS (well…mostly).
kickass tires
im tired and just got back from a weekend full of autox on my 215/45/16 Hankooks but here’s my quick review. I think total, the tires got 22 runs on them. 12 of them were dry, hot, dual-driving runs. ~6 were wet single driver, and about 6 were dry single driver.
- seemed to need a lot of psi to heat evenly across the tire. this was kept track of with the highly accurate hand-on-tire-test.
- gripped good cold, gripped better hot. dual drove the car 6 runs a piece, with less than 4 minutes between drives. the tires never seemed to lose grip. we kept finding time on-course.
- they’re not so on-off like the azenis. they make a lot of noise, but they still grip. they’re also easier to reel back in once you lose traction, front or rear.
- they seem to do okay in the rain, altough i suspect that the RT215 at full tread would be better, due to a stickier compound at low temperatures.
