I’m wondering if a OBD2 alternator will work on my non-OBD set-up? I know a OBD1 alternator will work because Ive done it before, but I’m about to swap a OBD2 motor into my 90’ and I plan on staying non-OBD and I’m wondering if I can use the alt. that will be coming with it or not. I was under the impression all B18 alts will work reguardless but my friend swears it wont work, so which one is it? Can I use the OBD2 alt when staying non-OBD?
the plugs may be different
other than that they are compatible
if you have the wiring from the obd2 alternator connect it to the obd 0 wiring harrness
So do I just need to change the plug on the obd2 alternator to that of the non-obd alternator? What do I do exactly? I would love to hear from someone who has done this before so they can tell me exactly how I do it.
b20 altenator
recently i put a b20 altenator from a b20 crv ,the thing i ran into is that the pugs are diferent ,so i used the plug from the b20 and worked fine,my 91 ls has 4 wires, the b20 had 3 only.:fucksuvs:
I’m confused, what did you do exactly? How did you wire up the obd2 alt to work non-obd? It would be great if you could tell me step by step what you actually did. Thanks.
here is a pic of the plug you need to change
and heres the wiring diagram
I dont know if B20 alternators are different (I would assume they are the same as B18’s) but all B18 OBD2 alternator’s I have ever seen have all had 4 wires. There is a good write-up on team-integra on how to use a obd2 alt on a obd1 set-up, go search over there. And someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but arent obd1 and obd0 alternators pretty much the same? Seems to me if you just follow the wiring directions from T-I for the obd2 to obd1 conversion you should be able to do the exact same for the obd0 alternator.
