Will GSR pistons mount on B16a rods?

Will GSR pistons mount on B16a rods. Also will these work in a B16a block. Reason asking is because I have GSR pistons but the pistons out of the B16 are cracked and I would like to use what I have.

:search:

The answer is yes, GSR pistons will fit onto B16 (PR3) rods IF you modify the rods. Most machine shops will be able to shave and rebalance the rods for you.

yes, gsr pistons will fit…but which pistons are you referring to? the 92-93 gsr pistons (p61) will fit w/o modification, and will drop your compression down to 9:1.

b18c1 pistons will require the modifications and will drop the compression down to 8.9:1

I strongly suggest you DO NOT put either of those pistons in your b16a. compression ratios that low will cause pretty drastic losses in power…and with an already low torque motor in a fairly heavy car you need all the power you can get.

I suggest picking up some used pr3 pistons (stock 10.2:1 B16A pistons), they can be had for pretty cheap, and you will not have to modify the rods.

Thanks for the advice. The GSR B18C1 pistons are definitely not worth it for this setup.

sounds like someone tried to press them out and they broke… common at machine shops.

should have brought them to me =)…
