Windshield Wiper Help

Ive been having this prob with my windsheild wipers for a while, When there on they wipe really harshly. When they go up , the driver side one hits the side then when they go back down they both slam onto the black trim, i have adjusted them different ways so many times, even got new wiper arms and blades , this didnt help, so whats the deal, am I the only one thats ever had this prob?

no man i have the same prob and am so confused any one got anything? please help :bs:

mine did the same so i bought some rain-X so it help not to use them as much. mine actually went past the driver side over door and broke once that sucked.

could it b that the motors are shot, or that its do ue to a bad icu, cause i no the icu does effect the wipers. iunno ? :hmm:

im having the same kind of issue. they dont go down all the way, they got all the way to the left side of the windshield instead of stopping like an inch away. i havent tried to adjust them yet, not sure whats going on with them…

had the exact same issue when i first bought my 93 gs, first I thought it was a bad park switch in the motor, so I got one from a salvage yard, put that one on and no luck same problem, so what I did was take a better look at the system in operation while the cowl was off and I found that the junction of metal linkages that drives the wiper pivot points have joints at their ends. These joints are basically a ball joint made of plastic. When the plastic wears out it causes the joints to be wobbly and the wiper arms go a lot farther out of their original range. I dont know how much one of those bars goes for, or if you can just get the plastic ball joint, however the way it looked, you probably have to buy the whole thing. I got lucky and found one off the same car in the salvage yard that had the motor. After putting the new linkage on I have had no problems ever since.

so all u did was change out your wiper linkage?

yup, replaced the linkage that had the bad plastic ball joint in it and it solved the problem, of course I had to re-adjust the wipers after I put them back on

Which one did you replace?

hey were did u get that diagram do u have the part numbers as well?

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org

i noticed a reply was never put on to which one was replaced… #11 is the one that wears out first because the motor runs on it to push both wipers… the other one only runs one wiper and doesnt take near as much of a beating

the new linkages are a revision compared to the old ones and the fittings dont wear out as quick (or break off like the old style did) my local dealership stocks 5 of those arm things at all times… so my guess is its a very common problem right now being there might be 200 g2’s around in this area that goto that acura dealership… unless g3’s also use the same linkage

Well i have a totally different problem my just stop wiping when you turn them on i just here clinking like there still goin maybe somthing that attaches to the blades came off or broke any ideas?

the linkage on the left side broke off and its just moving around inside the cowl… same problem we had with our red car

be prepared to buy some other parts tho when you do it… alot of little parts that end up breaking… and if u wanna fix the floorboard leak thats even more

The part #'s for the diagram you have shown are …

#11 Rod unit A - 76540-SK7-A01 $17.35
#12 Rod unit B - 76550-SK7-A01 $17.35
#13 Pivot Assembly B - 76570-SK7-A01 $29.10
#15 Pivot Assembly C - 76560-SK7-003 $29.10

Those prices are suggested retail before tax.

you shouldnt need the pivot assmblys… its the clips on the ends of the rods snap off

if neither wiper moves… u need #11… if only passanger sides moves … you need #12

if you want to be on the safe side and change both thats upto you… AOP (my new place to get parts) wants $13.88/each for the rods

be prepared to probaly buy a few cowl clips as if there originals there dryrot (we tried reusing on our cars and they wernt tight enuf to hold it down)

if your car is really nice you should change the white studs too while your at it that way it will be good and snug… we only changed the broken ones and wish we would have did them all

I actually am in the process of changing those, but I’m looking for a part number because 4 out of 6 are … gone! The previous owned used some silicone to tighten the cowl to the white studs (and by the same operation threw all the clips away but one) … damn stupid owner.

I have changed my linkage as well (due to my wiper going off the A pillar to my door window (very scary at highway speed when it rains).

I’ve changed my (about totally gone) cowl seal with some weatherstrip i’ve found at home depot for 4$, which seems to work pretty good so far!

cowl seal doesnt matter… water will always get in that part…

as for the studs… there listed under hood part number 30… your local dealer and online u can deal with knowing that

as for linkage causing it to go off the window… that wasnt the linkage… the wiper arm wasnt attached right… it was too far up

trust me, it was the linkage. both rods (motor-swivel and swivel-driver-side) had a broken clip (the white things at the end) which caused waaaay too much free-play on the wipers (about 4-5" on the driver side)

they were slamming on the cowl and showing in my door window

so for … 70$cdn (both rods) I’ve got it fixed (this is horrible, its worth 15$us a piece on acuraautomotiveparts.org)

now I’m hunting the white studs as I have found all clips I need
