Yesterday I bought a pair of Bosch wiperblades to replace the worn ones, but when tried to install them, found that the wiper arms do not swivel out of the windshield more than two inches, even with the arms parked in a vertical position.
I consulted the owners manual but seems that Acura contemplates only the change of the wiper inserts, not the blades. It was a quite complicated task and I finally got them installed. The risk of damaging the windshield and/or bending the arms is great!!
I even tried to pull, push the locking tabs at the base of the arms with no results.
Have you experienced same problem??
i’ve noticed this as well, but i had no problem changing the blades. I’m running an oversized wiper on the driver’s side. No problems for about a year now…and no more middle spike of un-wiped water. (not OCD).
im pretty sure all the DAs are like that… just went out to check mine and it does the same… doesn’t look like it would be too difficult then…
All I’ve ever had to do was push the wiper blade toward the base of the arm, comes off, push the new one up and it’s in.
i think the arms are designed that way, partially because the wipers tuck under the hood when not in use. In the event that you forget to fold the wiper back down (if you had wiper arms that folded completely up) you wouldn’t damage the hood when you return the wiper to the resting position.
but i’m out of ideas about the inclusion of locking tabs, when they clearly don’t affect anything.
IDK…but all I did was start the car, turn on the wiper and
when the wipers are vertical, I’ll turn off the car. It gives me
more reach to change it on the left side. For the right side, I’ll let
the wiper go up like 45 degree angle.
open the hood, then change the wipers with the hood open. thats how i did mine
