Wiper switch problems

I’m having a problem with my wiper switch. Specifically, when it’s switched to “intermittent”, the wipers either run nonstop at low speed or don’t turn on at all.

Think this is the switch? Or whatever controls the intermittent function?

(they work fine on low and high)

It’s probably your integrated control unit, it’s a box clipped behind the fusebox. they are ridiculously priced new and i’ve had terrible luck finding a good one at a junkyard. out of 5 i had one work most of the time. It still flakes out sometimes though and just runs in slow mode instead of intermittent.

eh… if it’s that, I’ll just deal the intermittent function not working then

stateofbean, do you have problems with your rear de-fogger & wiper, and get a funky noise like your door is open when you drive? if you do you’ll need to get that fuse box control unit. i managed to find one on eBay.

Nope; in fact, that key in/door open chime thingy doesn’t even work. That, and the intermittent wiper function are the only electrical problems on the whole car, thankfully. When I got the car the wipers didn’t do anything on intermittent though; now they run like they’re on low. Go figure. The switch feels like it’s coming apart though…

The “door open” light comes on bright when I open the doors, dome light comes on at full brightness, so I assume it’s just the beeper that quit working. I planned to disconnect it anyway; I do pizza delivery full time, and the car sits with the door cracked open and the keys in the ignition a lot when I’m going up to somebody’s house.

<edit> actually I haven’t used the rear defroster yet, I’ve only had the car a month. If I turn on the rear defroster the indicator light on the switch does come on though shrug.
