So im doing a wire tuck on my car but i have no clue were to tuck the map sensor bracket i will be useing a skunk 2 intake manifold so i dont know if i have to use those other two senors or not. if you can throw me some ideas to were to tuck it or what to do with it that will help thanks.
Upgrade to a 94+ throttlebody, they’re cheap… they utilize a TB-mounted MAP sensor, and the stock DA connector plugs right up to it.
As far as the two purge solenoid, I completely removed them. Easy-peasy.
my boss took that and just moved it down on the fire wall behind the motor where u cant see it
When u removed those other two did it throw a CEL? or did it idle different
Nope, no CEL.
Best photo I could find right now, the bay looks terrible. The 3 wires for the MAP had to be extended, but it looks tons cleaner than the stock purge canisters imo.
IF an emission tech knows what he’s looking for your car will fail if those are removed, as they are emission equipment.
yes, do this. its what i was going to recommend because it is what i will be doing and have done. and the blackworks throttle body is under 150$ and come in a bunch of sizes up 80mm i think. i am going to get the 70mm.
Going too big can hurt your performance, so be weary of that… A stock motor does NOT need something that big, it will be worse than an OEM unit.
Indeed I have a 70mm on mine as well and put down decent numbers, but my motor has some work done to it.
If you don’t want to upgrade to an aftermarket throttlebody, find a used factory 94+ Integra unit. It will be cheap and effective.
i thought the stock throttle body for the b16 was 64mm. i wouldnt think a 6mm jump would be that life changing. the throttle body will be with the skunk2 intake manifold and some super cool exhaust i havent decided on yet. i was thinking about some slightly larger injectors with all the supporting mods but i dont think it will be necessary. i plan to keep my motor stock though. once i get all my little bolt ons it will be getting tuned…
ITR - 62 mm
b18a - 58 mm
B18b - 60 mm
B16a SiR - 58mm
B16a Sir2 - 60mm
My brother has a fully built B16, Pro1 cams, full port/polish head, the highest compression possible (without boring the block), S2 Pro intake manifold, the works… Our tuner, and conversations with Skunk2 and Endyn, they all say that the 73mm throttle body he has is “WAY too big” for an NA motor.
If you’re not going BUILT, stick with something around an ITR size, especially if it’s not vtec motor… an LS with bolt ons could be fine with a B16 TB. Save the money for something else. Yes, it makes a big difference, and it’s not always a good difference.
80mm is something you’d use on a fully built, boosted, 800whp motor. Not a LS with bolt ons.
ah. i am no longer ignorant to the facts. thanks man, the 70mm is now off my list.
MAXBore can bore out your stock TB to ITR spec for like $100 if I recall… He does good work. Supplies you with a new, properly sized gasket as well.
i think it would be better for me to try and get that done locally rather than have to pay shipping twice… but thanks for the info though…
Www.Maxbore.com. check it out as an alternative, it won’t hurt to look.
