Won't Start in the Mornings

My 91 GS won’t start in the mornings. I’m guessing its because its still cold. It will start in the afternoons. Any help on how to fix this?

does it even crank, but doenst catch? or does it just “click” and no crank?

does it ever start up, and then just die right away… does it ever crank but never catuch?

… i’ve been having starting problems as well… it could be one of many things.

here’s a thread…

also… use the search function… for “won’t start”

this topic has been talked about in length, and you’ll find lots of good info (i just read through alot of it the other day and was able to pretty much narrow down the culprit). HTH

I had that problem for a while…I cleaned the starter contact and haven’t had a problem since.

Try turning your key to the “run” position and leave it there for 5-10 seconds(so all the dash lights are on and the fuel pump is pressurizing). Then try to start it. If it starts, then it’s your starter contact: dirty.

ECU error codes?

Did you check to see if your car is throwin’ any codes?

Okay, I just started the car its about 3:00 in the after noon. It sounded like the battery was low when I was cranking. Like it was on its last breath. But it started, and I saw a little bit of white smoke come out of the back. But after it started… it didn’t do it anymore.

I’m guessing a tune up would help?

A tune-up always helps

But if it was slow cranking, either your battery is weak, or your alternator isn’t charging it properly. Some places do free electrical system diagnosis (or charge very little for it at least). They would be able to tell you which it is.

Heck it might even be your starter… but they could tell you that too

My friend who own’s a Civic said the same thing happend to her and that she had to get her starter rebuilt.

“Try turning your key to the “run” position and leave it there for 5-10 seconds(so all the dash lights are on and the fuel pump is pressurizing). Then try to start it. If it starts, then it’s your starter contact: dirty.”

Tried that and it didn’t work. I’m taking it tomarrow to my dad’s friend to have him take a look at it. I’d like to take it in the morning, but that would be my problem in the first place. :dead:
