My car will not start; a clicking sound is present, but it is from the starter relay. It will only start when I jump start the car. I had the battery tested and it is showing 12.5 - 12.8 volts. The only thing I can think of that is preventing the car to start is a bad ground perhaps.
-update- i noticed that the voltage was lacking where the power is supplied to the starter. I took the starter out to test it, and it works.
The only way to start my car is by jump starting
Automatic or Manual? I don’t think it would be a bad ground cause then you wouldn’t get power to the car for 1 and for 2 if it was a starter ground it wouldn’t be clicking might be a bad starter…
I had the same problem but mine seemed alot worse. May sound dumb, but make sure that your battery ground goes to a nice clean place (if youve changed it), meaning that it goes to the chassis of the car aswell as the clutch adjustment plate. Make sure your valve cover ground goes to a nice clean spot on the rad support and that your using a metal to metal contact for the ground. My car was having starting/ running problems and looked like it had mad electrical probs but all that was wrong was that my ground wasn’t good enough, allowing me to get power on the car until the batt died, but not enough to let the car run. Good luck

What is the year and trim of the car?
What do you mean “jump start”?
You also say “power is lacking” at the starter.
Try this, with a piece of wire ,12ga-10ga, make a jumper, connect one end to the batt. pos. (+) and touch the other end to the starter solenoids trigger terminal, it is the one with the thinner wire going to it, the thicker cable is power directly from the batt., make sure the the nut is tight on that term. MAKE SURE CAR IS OUT OF GEAR  94

Sorry for not being specific. I have a 1992 GS.
By jump starting I mean that the integra can only start from hooking up jumper cables from the battery in the integra to the battery of my dad’s taurus.
I was at work today and was trying to figure out just why the hell my radio only works if the jumper cables are hooked up from my battery to my dad’s; I didn’t even turn on the taurus yet. At first I thought it was the ground maybe, so I had the brilliant idea to hook up the ground jumper cable only from my car to my dad’s…still nothing going on when i turn the key to the 2nd position. I hooked up the jumper cables once again without starting the taurus, and the radio worked with the key in the 2nd position. I took my dad’s battery out and installed it into my car, and the radio worked! wtf…tested my battery and it read at 12.5 volts…wtf OH SOB…I finally noticed that there is a nice buildup of crap on the positive terminal of my battery. I cleaned it up and installed it in my car…dammit the radio will not work. SOB (again) the buildup from the terminal had a nice buildup on the positive connector…cleaned it…radio works…can’t start my car.
Couldn’t start the car because I took the starter out to test it.
LMAO, good one, cracked me right up, good to hear you got it figured out.
Also for posting what the problem was, most guys would not admit that they missed something as simple as dirty batt. term. and deff. not the they forgot the car will not start without a starter, [or forgot they took it out] BTW we also call it a “boost” start up here. 94
I think I may have figured mine out too. it looks like a crappy alarm connection. I started to take it out a couple years ago and from what I know is that is when this started happening, but never suspected it. I finally took out the starter disrupter relay to the alarm and spliced the 2 wires together and now no problems so far. started it yesturday and today. looks good.
Nice to hear that it was the positive on the battery, I would like to think that with mine, but my battery is in the trunk and it’s about 6 months old, Optimum red top, and is not exposed to elements that are exposed to the battery under the hood, so I hope that my problem is gone.
