would this system work?

I have thought out the system that I may get, and here is my idea=

Pioneer DEH-P4400 head unit
Pioneer TS-A1667 6 1/2 speakers all around
1 Pioneer IMPP VCCS PRO 10" sub( in a q-logic sealled box)
US Acoustics USX4065 amp

I was wondering if this would work?-
I control all of it with the head unit(obiously), I power the rear speakers with the head unit. I hook up the front speakers to the amp, and bridge off the other 2 channels and hook it up to the sub. would it all go smoothly?

Also, would I have to get a battery like a yellow top optima, or could I just use a sear Die Hard battery? I need to know what would power it all.

Thanks for reading the post.

I would go ahead and get another amp maybe a nice 4 channel amp, like the alpine V-12 I am selling, but that is not the point;) But yea that system will sounds nice, but sound even better with an amp pushing everything.

That’s an okay start, but how about this :D.

-Pioneer DEH-4400 $146 www.ebaymotors.com (or my Pioneer DEH-5200, $125 :))

  • Infinity reference 6.5’s for front stage Very nice, clear, clean highs and good midbass. $75 www.sounddomain.com

-Us Acoustics 50 x2, or 80 x2 amp for front stage. Very clean and underrated amp. Very high quality. It’s refurbished, but it’s refurbished by US acoustics, so it’s exactlly like new. $80 or $90 depending on wich one you want. www.audioremedy.com GREAT store and customer service.

-No rear fill. Ruins the sound quality and sound stage. Think of a live concert, where are the vocals coming from? Not behind you. Money is MUCH better spent on front stage.

-Adire Audio Shiva 12 $125 Probablly the best 12 in it’s price range. This sub is absolutelly awesome. Has tons of output (loud) and sounds sooo good. www.adireaudio.com

-US Acoustics 100x2 amp bridged. Again, very clean and underrated. Probablly puts out close to 400 watts rms bridged$110 www.audioremedy.com

-2.0 cu ft. 3/4" MDF sealed box, or 2.5 cu ft. 3/4" MDF ported box tuned to 33 hz. Make it your self : $40 search www.termpro.com on the forums for how to do it. Very easy to make a high quaity enclosure and about the only tool you absolutelly need is a jig saw or router.

-(2) 8 gauge wire kits www.ebaymotors.com Search for seller: knukonceptz.com Some of the best wire at really cheap prices. Great service too. $18 each.

The total with out shipping is a little over $600, or with shipping, a little under $700. Wich isn’t much more than the above mentioned system. You CAN’T find a better system for that price unless you buy stuff used.

This will absolutelly anhilate the above mentioned system (no offense :)) In ANY and every category. I mean kill it!!!

You can always gradually buy stuff so you don’t have to drop $700 at once.

LMK what your price range is and I can design a little cheaper system for you too. Hope that helped you out bro

thanks adamm, sav’n that info! :D:up:

Adamm, with the set-up you mentioned, would I need a high amp-age battery, look above.

No problem man. Should be fine with a stock electrical system , you’ll have some dimming though. You can upgrade the wires under the hood. That should help some. You can always get a optima yellow top battery or a high amp alternator, but it’s not like your car will die or anything. If you have the money and plan to use a lot more wattage, get a high output alternator or get your’s rewound. I’ve never dealt with a high output alternator before, so I wouldn’t really know of a good place to get one off the top of my head.

Get a power cap instead of a battery… pay once… n’ never hafta worry bout it again… plus. you dont hafta worry bout leaky acid all over your trunk… and they look nice too… that’ll cut down the dimming … i should really take my own advice due to my dimming as well LOL…
ciao

Adamm listed out very good bang for the buck system. My only suggestions would be is to build both a ported and sealed box at the same time since you would be buying a pretty big piece of mdf, might as well make full use of it. Adire shiva in a well tuned ported box=:bang:

Caps are COMPLETELLY uselless. They don’t do a thing and are only a bandaid. Do a few searches and I beleive there is a large and educated discussion on the subject on this forum. The battery isn’t going in the trunk. it just replaces the stock battery, so no acid anywhere :). If you want to only pay once and not have to wory about it, I suggest you get a optima yellow top. It is also a bandaid, but it works very well unlike a cap. It will work great if you’re not going with huuge amps or competeing.

beatupls503: As far as the sealed and ported box, you’re right, I think he should build both to see what he likes best, but most people enjoy ported more for it’s larger output while still maintaing SQ. If you want more output and more low bass…than go ported tuned to the low 30’s, if you want less output and more “punchy” midbass, than go with the sealed. Shiva’s crave large boxes though, so the minimum sizes I would go for each box are what I isted above.

I plan on getting a yellow top, so would that solve my diming problem? I plan on running some high-quality wires with the system too.

:werd: It’ll solve it no problem. Just upgrade the wires under the hood too. When looking for wire, more strands = more conductive. I highly reccomend the knukonceptz kits from ebay. I have huge discounts on stinger wire kits from the shop I work at, and I still have knukonceptz kits. The stuff is dirt cheap and very high quality.

Sounds like you’re going to have a slammin system. Be sure to post pics up when you’re done:cool:

Just to let you know, I can make a awesome custom box for a good price for you if you don’t want to buld your own. I work as an installer and am very experienced. Just shoot me an email with what you’re looking for and I’ll give you a price.

Hey, I’m looking into setting up a system. I like what you laid out there, and I think I might just follow it to a tee.

I just have a couple questions.

  1. Which is better, 1 - 12 or 2 10’s?

  2. I have an old Pioneer DEH-245 35x4(check link) do I need a new Head Unity?
    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PioneerCanadaEng/CDA/CarProducts/POC_Eng_CarProductDetails/0,1825,120,00.html

It seem to me(not that I know anything) if I have an amp for the 2 front speakers, and one for the sub. Why do I need a good deck?
thx

Shawn

Well, (2 ) 10’s does have more cone area so it will be a little louder, but all of what I reccomended above will sound the best in a ported box. If you want to sacrifice the space, you can surelly go with 2 10’s. I personally prefer to have single sub setups because it’s a lot more impressive to only have a single sub setup blow away your freind who has a quad sub setup. But, that’s just me.

I really suggest you get a better HU. The better the HU, the more control you have over everything. So you can’t take full advantage of it if you don’t have any control. To be honest with you, If you have the setup I reccomended above with your HU, it won’t sound too great. You will have no contol over your sub because that HU only has one set of preouts. A better HU will make it sound WAY better. There will be a huge difference.

So I suggest you sell the HU you have now and get a new Pioneer, Alpine, or Blaupunkt HU in the $150 + range off of www.ebaymotors.com. Or anything that has 2 or more preouts and has seperate contols for your sub. Don’t get sony, kenwood, or clarion because I’ve seen nothing but problems with them  Just get the best HU you can afford from what I said above, but DON’T get anything below the $150 price range give or take $10. Anything below that isn’t too great and you can just spend $20 more and have a completelly better HU. Good luck man and have fun!

what dimming problem??? my friend you haven’t even installed teh system yet so how do you have dimmng problems.Install everything firtst and then see if you get dimming. If you do i would look into a high output altenator like the others mention and if you don’t wat that then i would suggest a yellow top.I have a yellow top and a cap.The cap did make my bass sound a little heaveir fand i swear it isn’t just me.Install everythig first though and worry about it then, don’t through away money you may not need to spend
