Wrecked DA9...

I got in an accident with my '91 Teggy, and due to the nature of the collision, insurance has me at fault, so no pretty check.

Repairing it is not an option for me, aside form lack of technical knowledge, I wouldn’t be able to afford the parts from a junkyard. So I’m trying to check out my options on getting rid of it…

Looking for some advice on how to go about it. I won’t be able to part it out, again, lack of technical knowledge.

It’s a 1991 3D 5 speed. As for the condition of the car, based on an insurance agent’s visual inspection, $2100 in parts inclduing all front end body components and cooling components. Engine cranks and runs beautifully. It’s due for an oil change and brake/rotor replacement. Tires are brand new, maybe 2000 miles. Rest of the car is in good condition. A/C does not work, heat does. No leaks. Interior is in good condition.

If I were to sell the car off to someone, what price range should I expect?

Appreciate any advice that can be offered,
-Murph

Factors to consider when pricing:

What trim level is it? GS, LS, or RS?
How many miles are on it?
Is it the original engine and tranny?
When was the timing belt last replaced?
How old is the clutch?
What is the interior condition like?
Color of interior?

If you part it, what condition is your tranny in? Mounts messed up or anything? I’m in the market for an LS trans. And no BS please like “it doesn’t grind I swear” because I’ve already been ripped off once haha

You probably won’t get ripped off so easily if you read the post… He’s not going to part it out so your question is invalid.

OP, For that… you’ll be lucky to get $500 for it. The car is totaled and will only be used for parts.

My hero.

I’d say $500-800 if you find the right person. Naturally though, it depends on the market in your part of the country.

As said, someone is more-than-likely going to buy it for parts… Average Joe doesn’t have the knowledge to repair it, and the cost for a shop is obviously more than the car is worth.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the pictures.

I would probably use unified112’s high price and expect to possibly get $500.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am highly aware it’ll be used for parts, I wouldn’t doubt if the frame was messed up honestly.

And yeah, not parting it out myself, definitely selling the whole thing.

Price range sounds to be about what I was expecting.

If it matters…

What trim level is it?
LS

How many miles are on it?
250k on chassis (I was told the engine had been rebuilt when I got it, with less than 1k miles, mostly original parts, I do not know if it’s true or not but it has run ridiculously smooth with little maintinence) assuming it was rebuilt, ~50k

Is it the original engine and tranny?
Engine, see above. Tranny, as far as I know.

When was the timing belt last replaced?
Owned it for two years, I have never replaced it

How old is the clutch?
Was told it was done when I got it two years ago

What is the interior condition like?
Fair at best

Color of interior?
Palm Blue
