Just did my Valve Cover Gasket two days ago and im at Burger King (Since the drive through is the only time I dont hear 750watts of bass) and I hear this squeaking. I popped the hood and recorded it and it sounds like its coming from my Distributor but I wanna know what you guys think before I pull it apart tomorrow. Getting dark and I dont have a light to do it and the land lord does not allow us to work on the premises. Heavy squeeking and sounds like something is bouncing around…
maybe the rotor is coming off or something inside i is loose
distributor bearing is shot… at least that would be my guess. best way to confirm is pop the §§§§§ off and hand turn it to see if it still squeeks like that, or if it feels like metal on metal… If the bearing is indeed shot out you will definitely feel it when you rotate it by hand…
buy a new distributor at oreilly’s for 220 bucks with a lifetime warranty and call it a day. get the one that has no cap or rotor to save a couple bucks & just swap the old ones over.
Unless they are doing something new I haven’t heard of, that lifetime warranty isn’t going to be the whole distributor, it won’t include the cap, rotor, coil, or igniter. Electrical components generally don’t come w/ any warranty.
It was the distributor bering. Got another one off of craigslist for $60 Putting it in after this rack of baby back ribs! Thank you Djzachtyler
must be new then I just replaced my distributor with the one I mentioned and it has a lifetime warranty. My mechanic suggested it. Only parts I had to slap on were as I said the Cap, rotor, & that shield the sits under the rotor to cover the electronics, so those are not covered… it is just the distributor, ICU & Coil
right on man… glad you are able to get it sorted
