Well, I am in need of a new clutch in the near future so I started to research and decided for my 92 RS, the Exedy full face organic clutch would be a good choice. The mods and tuning for my RS will probably put me in the 160 whp range, so the Exedy organic race clutch with 30% more torque capacity should be perfect.
I was quoted a great price from one of the vendors here for the clutch kit, but I went on Ebay to look for a flywheel, which seem to be overpriced thru vendors here. I found a Fidanza 7.5 for $168 shipped and received it in 2 days, great deal. But I also noticed an ad from Aimcoclutch selling their XTD racing clutch. The ad says the kit comes with a 1750 lb clamp pressure plate and a racing organic clutch disk that can handle 30% more torque. Sound familiar?
I sent them an email to see if the clutch disk was the Exedy organic race disk and they said yes. I even asked again in another email thru their web site, and they assured me that I would receive Exedy’s org race disk. So I ordered the kit for $180.
When I received the kit, the clutch disk was the Exedy Unity disk–single white springs–which is the OEM replacement disk. What a bunch of crap. So I contacted them, and they assured me that I received the Exedy race disk, and I said no-way, you sent the Unity disk. So he tells me that their Stages of clutch kits are different and that I got what their supplier puts in the kit, and offered no exchange for the real Exedy org race disk. So I left him negative feedback.
Low and behold, now he wants to work with me, only after leaving neg feedback. He is sending me a 6 puck cerimatalic race disk to compensate me. So now I have to sell the original Unity disk and the 6 puck cerimatalic so I can go purchase the Exedy full face organic disk. I concede that he did make an effort by sending me the 6 puck, so I went ahead and dropped my negative feedback on him.
I guess you live and you learn, buy from our sponsers, lol.
Anyone need a Cerimatallic sprung 6 puck disk rated at 400 hp–he says…?
