do you guys think the Honda MTF is the way to go for a tranny like mine that asks for 10W30 in the manual? someone said honda mtf is like 5w20. could this be right? well, i’m gonna put it in, it can’t destroy it but i have been doing fine with regular 10w30, i just have some honda mtf and…i am bored.
if you were already planning on putting it in, why are you asking a question as to whether you should or not?
honda mtl was developed after our cars were made and is what the dealer actually puts in. its basically a 10w30 with special additives that honda specifies to my understanding. i use honda mtl in my ys1 tranny. no problems here.
Honda used to recommend 10W-30 until the early 90’s when they introduced MTF which is really 10W-30 with an additive package that’s made for Honda Syncros.
tribb why are you being a punk? don’t reply if you think i’m wasting your time, that would be wasting your own time…and it is MTF not MTL, i have 3 quarts right here. what is the point of this forumn if not to help each other?
my apologies. I wasnt trying to be a dick about it, i just didnt understand if you were truly asking a question because it seemed like you answered your own question in your post, that’s all.
