YS1 GS-R Transmission gears in LS Transmission

Hey everyone,

I tried searching but couldn’t really get a clear answer. So right now I’m thinking about buying a cable GS-R transmission, I found someone selling one for $180 but he says the case is cracked. So my question is, would I be able to transfer the gears from the cable GS-R transmission into my cable LS transmission without any issues? Or is there an easier way to accomplish what I’m trying to do, such as just switching the housing.

Thank you for the help in advance, I realize this may have been covered many times before but everything I saw was cable gears in a hydro transmission, please educate me, don’t belittle me. Thank you.

This has been covered a bunch in multiple threads so I’m sure there’s more info out there if you spend some more time searching.
Short answer is that it depends on what transmission you have.
92-93 “YS1” = Yes.
89-91 “S1” “J1” “Y1” A1" = No.

Thank you Colin. I know it has been covered I just wanted to make sure I was understanding it properly.
