ys1 with itr lsd

hi im new to the forum and would like some advise. Im currently building a boosted b16a, i have my ys1 factory transmission, and would like to keep it due to the longer gears. My question is i have a factory type r lsd, and would like to know how to install this unit. thanks

I think you have to first make sure what final drive it is to fit in with your stock counter shaft. your ls should be a 4.2 final drive. count the teeth on the LSD if it has the ring gear, depending on what LSD this is if a older B16a sir LSD it should fit just fine. if it doesn’t match your stock diff the you might be able to swap the ring gear or final drive if it has the same bolt pattern from your stock final drive to the LSD.
other than that you have to grind a lil from inside the case on the inner Web to fit the LSD in snug.
post a pic of the LSD or let us know if it has a final drive, how many teeth it has and how many bolts hold down the final drive. is it a sir civic LSD or type r?
sir civic LSD are smaller than the type r and of compared to a stock type r or aftermarket like wavetrac or quite you’ll notice that they are all as big as the type r diffs.
I had a jdm y1 LSD tranny and broke two LSD diffs until I got a wavetrac LSD. and I was running a 01 jdm itr swap with power making bolt-ons and tuned on a dyno no unit just all motor 195hp on a dyno pack from the hubs.
my point it civicB16a sir diffs won’t take any abuse.

no final drive, just an lsd unit from an itr. thanks for the reply

you think your able to swap your stock final drive to the LSD. some jdm LSD have 15 bolts and usdm have like 10 just like the ys1.

im sure i can, i haven’t crack open my tranny yet, im just finishing up with my motor, than im going to start on my tranny. my lsd unit has 10 bolt. do you know what final drive i can swap out to make this unit fit? do i need an itr final drive, or can i use a gsr? i’ve read about grinding down the case im sure i can do that. I want to beef up the tranny, my power goal is 300-350. i do plan on putting carbon synchros, and installing all new bearings. i would like to use this diff, cause it was free lol. thanks

Ahem.
