1/2 radiator

can i keep my a/c with a half radiator?

can someone tell me the answer…

some civics have a/c with the small radiator, so i think it would be fine. thats how i am setting up my car…

The A/C Condenser is in front of your radiator and it runs the entire width of the radiator. If you are going with a civi radiator because you need a clear path to the IC through that area then the condenser will have to go (no A/C). You may be able to get a civi condensor which is 1/2 width but I’m not sure about the height.

Make sure to get your A/C lines evacuated with appropriate equipment if you choose to take it apart.

wrong boy…

look at my install, kept a full size rad and never took out my condesors or moved my battery

u do have to pick–ac or windsheild washer

What i said was “If you are going with a civi radiator because you need a clear path to the IC through that area then the condenser will have to go” This would be the case with a rear exit IC or a mani the put the wastegate WAY out in front. If however he is going with a 1/2 rad because he just needs 1" or so more of clearance, than your right the full size condenser can stay.

i dont care, i am giving him my 2 cents lol

calm down

the answer to your question is no. you cannot use a half rad and keep a/c. thread done

Brett

I didn’t take offense to your first post. :nana:

and actually…

u do have to pick–ac or windsheild washer

isn’t completly true. If you drill the chassis you can keep both, full size radiator and full size condeser. EDIT: I just remembered, you may need a smaller washer resevoir.

Of course that wasn’t the question though. :naughty:

That isnt the answer. There are ways to keep A/C, even if you are using a 1/2 rad. There are too many factors to determine if the guy wants to or can pursue them. Like it would be useful to know why he’s going with 1/2 rad. clearance? Its what he has? FMIC with rear exit end tanks? on and on and on.

I have an all aluminum half radiator and i plan to keep ac, and im going through the frame rail, its most def. possible, my suggestion, since on the stock system there are 2 fans, have a pusher fan on the half with the radiator (passenger side) on the condensor side, and have a puller fan (stock will do) inside the engine bay on the radiator, that way you have part of it cooling the condensor and you also have 2 fans on the radiator, this is what i plan to do i have my stock fan and will have a pusher fan on the condensor in front of the radiator

Got rid of washer bottle, as u can see i cant run a/c with my set up anyway but just showing where to run IC piping

I had the same idea…but wanted to see if anyone has done it before

what kinds of manifolds are u guys using to keep a/c? sorry for the post whore

…exactly

R6e6i6d - ran out of T clamps for the compressor? hahaha

this is for the guy with the red car that keeped his condensor
i see even thouse you routed your piping that way. do you even have ac
i dont see any ac lines or anything
is it possible to keep ac with the way you routed you piping or is it a must to get custom ac lines

I took out my AC cause my belt broke and i didnt feel like getting charged or new belt. it is possible to have ac with my setup but u will have to be careful with mani selection, most logs wont work since they shoot straight out, my old mani (pictured) it would be possible

the only thing u will have to look at is the Cooler thing that runs off the receiver to behind the bumper, that may get in the way of the IC depending on the size, etc…u will also have to remove the lines for the install and bolt the turbo up in the engine bay if u have a full size rad. I’d recommend getting a halfsize for more flexability even if u keep ur ac
