10.1 compression with boost

Hey guys I found a cheap deal on some pistons, but they’re 10.1 compression. I was planning on running 14lbs on pump gas, let me know what you think. Any suggestoins would be great.

it can be done. id say the best thing to do would be to talk with your tuner.

thats good .low comp. isn’t always good for boost i have ran 11.5 comp. on 15 psi of boost on pump gas. big ass injectors but still pump gas.the higher the comp. the more power it will make with less boost .some full drag cars are running 11.5 with 30+ psi of boost just couse it spools faster and is not a dog with out boost.my last set up was b16 10.5 comp. with a t3t67 turbo at 25 psi and a 75 shot of n.o.s. at 10psi it made 350hp and at 14-15psi 380hp.never dynod at 25 psi but should have been 450+ hp. and is still running to this day but in some one elses car thuogh. hope this helps …

Thanks for the input, I was a little scared of the 10.1 comp. I’m going to get with my tuner and talk it over. But it makes good sense to have a little more comp. so your making more power out of boost as well. Thanks again.

most if not all his motors are high comp.

high compression with boost isn’t a bad thing at all. people are just scared because if your tune sucks, you get detonation and blow your engine. with a good tune, theres absolutely no problems. so if you don’t have a half ass setup, i wouldn’t worry about it. its more for the backyard turbo setups with no tuning running on base maps etc…

I am running 25psi out of a holset on my 10.5 compression M50 engine. If you watch the timing, and keep it PIG rich (10-11) in boost after 10 psi your still going to be alright.
