14.9 Slip From Last Year, STOCK LS

I never touched anything under the valvecover until last week. I threw my 92-93 spec cams in, and its slower than before. There is nothing I’m leaving out, the motor is stock for what I have seen. I don’t consider header, intake, cat to be highly modified so its stock in my eyes.

The car was fully gutted, no rear interior, no passenger seat, no headlight, and no rear wiper motor. Thats how it weighed in at 2400, I have a GS so its the heaviest model.

I’m not positive, but I think that the Ziex tires would have to be 14’s at about 15psi of pressure before you’d get a 2.20 60-ft time. Oh, and they’d HAVE to be H-rated (no stiff sidewall tire will produce that kind of traction). Again, I’m not positive about this, but this is based on my few years of 'teggy racing at the drag strip. The other possibility is that the strip you’re at happens to be extremely fast. We’ve got one around here that’s extremely slow, for instance (about 0.2-0.5 off of your “standard” times, depending on the car).

this is true!!

i am an eye witness to this car running a 14.9… we dont know how… but it did

I think there is more done to the car than he knows about…cause i doubt he is the first owner of it!

My 94 GSR is faster than G2 & G3 gsr’s and pulls decently from them, plus its a 4dr. Why its faster, i dont know, but I’ve looked at everything and its all stock.

I have raced GSR’s g2/g3’s with I/H/E and other goodies, and I only have I/H/ stage 1 clutch. and pull away from them pretty bad. But i can only get it to run 15.2 in the 1/4!

you threw in 92-93 cams and its slower…did you retime it? if everything else is the same, then looks like there’s the answer right there.

exactly, might have had some 403’s or colt regrinds in there before that you didnt know about

I haven’t retimed it, but I’m just gonna have the stockers put back in. It’s too cold for me to switch them in a garage again, so my brother is gonna swap them in at school. He can retime it on the lift, so it’ll run like before.
I am not the first owner of the car, but I took the cams out and looked them over, they have the stock markings.

^^^^ Me on my friends computer.

Dont colt regrinds have stock markings? Im pretty sure the only way to tell on the colts is by measuring the actual cam lobe

you cant tell just by eyeballing the cam.

My motor is a freak, they are stock. I retimed it today in class because my brother is too slow, I put the distributor back to the stock setting (marked it before the cam swap). It feels like it pulls harder than before the swap. Once I get a new clutch I’m gonna go to the track and see what she pulls, then I’ll post the slip up. Maybe I’ll see if we can get an in car video sometime soon. Thanks for the help guys.

return it completely to STOCK, then post slips. until then, this post is useless.

there has to be something changed that you dont know on your car. I understand a GSR running 14.9 stock being a freak gsr like mine but i have a 94 and 92-93 should be faster than mine. But an LS, there is no way possible for it to run almost 1 full second faster than professionals could drive it.

redlineaz return it completely to STOCK, then post slips. until then, this post is useless.

Your post is useless. Why would I return the car to COMPLETELY stock? I have very minimal mods as it is. I don’t see other people returning their cars back to stock to run at the track. Once GLD opens here and I have my new clutch, I will post a video of my 1320.

Russyo- Why can’t my LS run faster than factory times?

NO. you are the one claiming a time that is impossible with a completely stock DA, and i mean STOCK. then you show us said “stock” car WITH mods. you say you’re gonna retime it, so retime it completely stock to back your claim. just from reading this post, and looking at the pics you have-it looks like you got a time slip, and wrote the number on your car yourself. i’ve been to tracks across the country, and i’ve never seen a track write the number in the middle of your windsheild, always on the side window or rear. but hey, thats just an assessment based on the info provided.

Colt regrinds are in fact marked on the end of the cam. They are engraved with “Colt Cams” along with a model/grind number.

So a Type R runs 14.7, and your “stock,” non-VTEC 15 year old car runs 14.9?

i agree with with the post above ^^^^

Let’s not forget that he’s running a completely gutted car, too. Far from stock. That’s all I think everyone is stuck on, you keep claiming it’s stock and it’s not.
