140k b18a worth going 10psi boost?

I am debating whether to just go for a jdm b18c1 with lsd tranny swap with about 30k miles on it, or throwing in a drag 3 turbo kit onto my existing b18a which has 140k miles on it already. I want to run at least 10psi to get under the 15 seconds perhaps, but i’m not sure that’s going to be nice on the old engine. Then again if I get the swap, i have no more money for turbo. what do you guys think?

you’ll be playing with fire boosting 10psi on your 10+ year old motor… unless it’s rebuilt

maybe 6psi max… but should rebuild bottom end

i want 10 or nothing… i guess i’ll just got for a engine swap, but then who knows, what if it’s 10 more years until I can get the turbo? lol.

You should be able to get under 15’s with way less than 10psi. Typically, 6-7 on a stock engine is okay-with that you will be around 200-220/wheels-depending on your tuning, that should net you some mid-high 13’s.

Woa…210hp on 6 psi of boost? You have got to introduce me to this tuner.

As long as your motor is in good condition . do a compression test and if everything is good, then boost away. I got 145K on my motor and I boost 9lbs on pump gas daily and no problems.
if you do blow your motor, ls motors are easy to come by and you’ll have an great story for us all =)

pokey how long have u been running that setup on 9lbs. i have 163k on a bone stock b18a1 and was gonna rebuild the bottom end with fresh bearings and use the stock rods pistons and crank. thinking of a daily driven 7-8psi no-tec

I had it on for about 5 months, I drive my car everyday. I boosted up to 10 lbs at the track on pump gas with octane booster to be safe but daily I run 8 to 9 psi. I plan to get pistons and new bearings and seals. But as for now I have no problems, expect for traction

You can run 10 psi on your stock bottom end. it is better to build your bottom end, but if you have a budget to think of, you should be fine with your bottom end, Please note you will have to upgrade your fuel system(if you don’t know). Upgrading fuel and ignition along with proper tuning you can achieve 9-10psi

What ever you do, do not go half ass on the fuel, ignition, and tuning. This is what will save your stock bottom end from detonating, and blowing up.

Stuff you should get at the least

High flow fuel pump

Vortec FMU or boost controlled regulator

Proper sized injectors (310cc) is the maximum you can go on the stock ECU

Ignition amplifier with coil

I just started running ~11psi on stock bottom end. I did timing belt, crankcase seal, waterpump, cam gears (valve cover isn’t cut though  ). Do yourself a favor and do a compression/leakdown check before getting serious about boost.

You might also consider a low pressure fuel setup, if you can afford it. You need a good fuel mgmt system like hondata, aem and a good LP fuel pump with 440cc or 550cc injectors depending on your HP expectations. 440’s from RC engineering (www.rceng.com) are barely more expensive than 240’s. If your planning on running a less expensive/tuneable Fuel management then go with a HP pump.

I am useing a Supra TT fuel pump/550cc injectors and it is as quiet as stock and still flow enough fuel to run way too rich at max power.
