i ran 6 times and have slips for them all but i wont have scans for a while, the videos i should have up within a day or to.
best reaction time .5091 false start is anything lower than .500

“a semi stock gs-r should be able to get mid 14’s and with a weight diet a bit less” - Schu
there is no way. you’d need a huge weight diet like no back seats, carpets, and a stripped trunk.
a bone stock 92-93 gsr should run a 15.5 to a 15.8 with an average driver. a good driver in optimum conditions may be able to squeeze off a low 15 with a slight weight reduction.
on a 1/4 tank of gas, a clear trunk with no spare, good tires, a good driver and a good launch a gen2 gsr should be able to pull off a flat 15 give or take. that’s under optimal conditions. trap speed should be in the high 90s.
i know it’s not totally accurate but gtech measured my 1/4mi at 15.7 with just an intake and header. this was on the street with 50% tread on the tires. that was a long time ago. it gives an idea. on a good track with way more grip and a good launch i probably could have sqeezed another tenth out of it or so. i’d most likely get the same time but a higher trap speed ont he track.
most of the semi modded gsrs around here are gen3s but they barely pulled off mid 15s when they were stock. now most of them are mild to full bolton cars and they are all making low to flat 15 sec passes. only one broke into the 14s with i/h/e/cat/clutch/intake manifold/itr cams/flywheel and slicks(14.6 or soemthin i cant remeber for sure).
no i havent ran it again because of health issues but i might be able to get out there again this friday i will post times if i do.
shu i think a mid 14 is pretty extreme for a stock gsr, tho i could b wrong.
again this time was with a 160lb passanger 30+ lbs of tools and maybe a 10lb cooler with drinks, on top of the full weight of a stock gsr… so thats stock plus 200lbs…
i think i had to much psi in my tires i think it was like 20ish? my launches sucked… i either spun them or bogged so i have to get better with pratice.
the car is magazine tested whe it was first released at 14.7
0-60 was 6.7 sec

I think it is not only possible but necessary, are you guys sure you know how to lauch a car properly?
many guys spend way to much time in first gear and miss shift points.
My brother inlaw with his 96 GSR with only cold air, exhaust and gutted cat went 14.6 @ 96 with 2.2 60ft. My other friend with a 92 green GSR went 14.9 with same mods. I think mid 14s is possible but you need a full cold air and maybe a header and gutted cat. If my stock 90 LS can go 15.7 then a 14 is very reachable with your car. Dont know if your track is at hight alt. You might have to go to a sea level track to hit that 14. Best of luck though.
well these numbers say differently so magazine testing means nothing. we can’t base the conversation on what magazines or website tests have shown. those are oftentimes optimum conditions with professional drivers on closed tracks etc. in fact a good rule of thumb is to take the numbers that magazines write down and add a few tenths to their times. remember that ALL magazines work with car companies to help sales. that’s it. besides you cannot honestly say that a second gen gsr with less horsepower, less torque, no lsd, more weight, less compression, and a more restrictive intake and exhaust system runs the 1/4 mi in the same time as a type R stock. and there is no way simply opening up the intake and exhaust is going to shave several tenths off it’s 1/4mi time. however i’m very impressed with your brother in law and your friend. they should never sell those cars.
i do know how to launch the car, and have run against type Rs, typeS rsxs, new civic si’s, etc all cars that run high 14s or less and can barely keep up be it from a dig or a roll. i have a friend with a bone stock s2000 that runs 14.1 consistently. with all my modifications i can’t even stay within a car length, and neither can my friend with the 2000gsr with similar mods. my friend with the new civic si a consisten t mid 14 sec car will easily put a car or more on me from a dig, or a 45punch.
unfortuneately i cannot make it to the track tonite b/c my grandmother is in the hospital, however i plan on going on sunday afternoon. i will put up some timeslips for you all.
well yeah although my old one was a dog. i don’t put a lot of stock into those numbers either. i only posted it to make a point. it’s stupid to start a fight over this though. lets see what happens sunday.
