Ok, so I got this car a couple months ago from a dumb kid who painted it lke 15 times without sanding it at all. It had runs and blotches like crazy. It has a front bumper and side skirts from a body kit and a stock front bumber. O and Z3 fenders but I wanna glass over the fake vents so they will look normal…So just paying attention to the front bumper and skirts is it really that bad? I have a build thread on HT and sooo many people talk shit about it and it gets old…I mean for being a DA and being in Wisconsin there is NO rust on the whole car…And this is the day after I got it, it is being primered right now and I dont ahve recent pics.
It has a new hood and hoodlatch, so the pins are gone. I took out the old ripped up stock seats and put in a pair of Konig seats (traded XBOX 360 for them). The stock steering wheel pulled out and a MOMO steering wheel (paid $15 for it) put in. I had to fab the seat brackets and seatbelt brackets, and the steering wheel hub too. I got bored 1 day and glassed the center console so the cd player sits at an angle and then I had some suede laying around and wrapped it (cost around $20 to do, but looks profesional), looks good…I took the valve cover to school and bead blasted it, taped it off and painted it the Lime green I wanted to use.
FYI this is a project and Im a senior in highschool and I have tickets so its a slow process…I just wanna know what you guys think of the exterior (not paying attention to the paint or fenders and the fact the headlights are not on the car in this pic)
Maybe you should of waited to buy something better. That car is going to need a lot of work. I don’t see how you can get that into shape being on a “high school budget.”
Traded a 98 lowered S10 for that I didnt want, and I had roughly 3-4 months to do stuff to it because I dont have my license til this coming tuesday. The whole car is already sanded and being primered monday.
I guess I just wanted something different to work on other than a rough riding chopped up S10 I got ripped off on…In person it doesnt look too bad now that its going to be primered, and I have two dif sets of rims for it - nothing to bad…And I figure if I cant sell it to some dumb kid for his 1st car for 4k like most of my friends ended up doing for their 1st car then Ill finish saving it. If I do that I want to do a VTEC/turbo build, and RHD conversion…Im prolly going to be getting a loan out to atleast do the motor build and replace the front bumper/sideskirts
Why would you get a loan out to do something on a car that old? You’ll never sell the car for 4k like your friends either. Good luck with the car though.
Its either that or build my domestic. And I was saying they bought cars like that…A friend paid 3,500 for a rotted out 91 HB with a shitty paint job - just because it had crappy mtx components in it. be amazed how some people are that look on craigslist. Thanks though, it might take me longer to do things but in the end it should look nice and shouldnt have the body kit
even trade. I had a lowered 98 s10 - was stock other than that, had the crappy 2.2 in it. I pulled the 17’'s I had on it off and the whole stereo system out before I traded the guy. It had some rust and it was slow and an automatic. If you saw the way it looked you woulda took the teg too lol
Trust me DA projects never finish, its an everlasting project. Dont get the loan. In a few months you’ll be off to college (if thats what you want) and need money for that. Later on you’ll want a nicer, newer looking car that you wont be embarassed to give ladies a ride in. Just ask any of the older members here and they’ll tell you.
