1st revive documentation

hey fellas I figured I would document this revival.
Backstory: CL find, owner had for 2 years. Did timing belt and fresh tires before it lost compression. From story it could be jumped time but even if worst case I have motor/trans setup ready to go.

Known issues: driver door handle, antenna

Cost: $600+travel cost

Pics:

looks like a pretty good buy.

Thanks. Plan is to have it swapped (if neccessary) by end of next week (fall break). Then fix any minor issues and post for sale.

This will be the first and last update…because a swap wasn’t necessary!!! woot!
This little beauty purrs like a kitten once we reset the timing. Whoever previous owner had do the timing belt didn’t set the tension right. I think I will do the pads and rotors then see what I can get for her. Overall I think this turned out well lol

Ok so not the last update. Just got a valve cover gasket set and plugs and diz rotor. lets look at some pics…
Awesome speaker that came with car

Taking door apart to replace door handle

seats out lets see what we got

I hate previous owners of vehicles…how many spilled cokes does it take to get to the center of the brain

Lets resolve this issue shall we

one last overview shot

Will continue to update with other fixes.

Nice pickup for the price. That carpet is ruined, I wouldn’t waste your time with resolve…get a new one. Good luck with the project.

Yeah that carpet is pretty bad off. Worst of it is under the seats though I wouldn’t worry about it too much as long as it doesn’t smell.

Hey guys check these out
Cant tell here but needs a little more luvin

Old valve cover gasket set

New

2 detailing pics. I go more extensive on cleaning than most. Inside outside top to bottom then reassemble.

And say hello to my little friend, Mr Mustache (moo-sta-shey) He’s a killer can you tell? :stare:

I have another carpet but its only like half as bad. And trying not to buy one due to budget building. All $ from parts thread go to salvages and a 92 gvr4 project build for this winter

made a little more progress.
other carpet

mr mustache roaming around while old carpet removed

…and I told you he was a killer lol

Noooo not the chase t shirt! Lol

 RIP chase. I will cremate you when the time comes…

New pics:
Cleaned up while carpet was out. Used a rag bleach and water

shortly after ^^^^

Everything cleaned and reassembled good as new.
Issues remaining to be addressed:
hazard switch
rubber boot for antenna
ABS light
shocks

This will be a sweet little ride when done

Good to see another owner as anal about cleaning their car as me! Keep up the good work it looks great!

yea and this is just a car I’m cleaning up to sell… imagine the rules I have for the da6 lol. My ex didnt like riding 1 no wheel and felt weird 2 was worried about getting any dirt in it haha

De-grease and pressure wash that other carpet… will likely be a solid 7-8 after such.

Good progress so far. Someone will get a nice little ride when you sell it!

I remember when my door speakers looked exactly like those. Good progress so far, cool cat.

Ok fellas another small update
Stumbled across some useful items while cleaning up in the basement today…

Not in great condition but they are OE and the right color
So far that makes new: vc gaskets, cap & rotor, plugs, tires, battery, belts and recent timing belt
Onward and upward!!

Wow, Its absolutly amazing how clean you have manage to make this considering on what you started with.

so I got shocks in the mail and started the process. I did the rears (hehe) then started working on the front.

They came apart easy but then this was found.

I then checked the other side…

No problem I have extra set in the basement so took them apart

hmmm seems to be an issue…

WTF!!! I have never had a spring rust and snap…now 4 in a row!!
So I grabbed a set off a parts car and they were good, WHEW! Now all I need is bumpstops since old ones disintegrated.

Shocks complete and hatch struts replaced so no more KO’s. Rides 1000x’s better than busted springs and blown shocks lol. Any bolt touched got antiseized and wire brush if necessary, especially fork pinch bolt.
Tomorrow looks like hazard switch and possibly antenna.
