2.5" downpipe??? or 3" downpipe

I dont know if the size matters due to the fact that im runnin a cutout…but should I leave the down pipe the size it is now(2.5") or go up to the 3" for my turbo
Im going to be keepin the exhaust i have on it now so i would be using a reducer if I went with the three inch pipe. I have read that a 3 inch reduced to 2.5 is the same as just havin 2.5 throughout the whole exhaust. And like i said above ill have a cutout, but still dont know if the size of pipe will matter

I tried searchin but came up short and could not find it in the turbo guide…please give m some feedback or advice. thanks guys

well if you do switch willing to sell the dp if it goes down from the passenger side

if you step from 3 down to 2.5, then your effective flow rate will be that of the 2.5 pipe. BUT this only applies to a full exhaust, doesn’t hold water with a cut out. here is what i mean:

3 to 2.5 = 2.5 flow
2.5 to 2.5 = 2.5 flow
2.5 to 3 = 2.5+, but less then 3 flow
3 to 2.5 w/ cut out at the dp = 3 flow

the exact numbers could be figured, but your not giving enough info. but aside from giving you the hard numbers, this is a good generalization.

haha sory man what else info do i need to give ya?? ill try my best.

ok so pretty much if i run the 3" downpipe then with the cutout open ill have the flow rate of a 3" pipe and with it shut ill have 2.5" flow rate through the whole exhaust… thats pretty much what im lookin for.

and bmw do you have a downpipe or somthing? kinda confused on your post…thanks

you have your answer, no real reason to worry about it more.

if you do go up to the three inch dp, im wondering if you would sell your dp you have now. If you would sell it does it come down from the turbo on the passenger side.

I’m looking for a downpipe that starts from the drivers side so if it let me know
