I need some help, I wanna boost my Da but it has 200,000 miles!! What should i replaced before I slap a turbo on my B18a?
I was planning to replace:
Piston rings
Water pump
oil pump
Thermostat
Do I need to replace anything else or will this do?
the motor…haha
get a compression check
head gasket and timing belt are probably most important and u overlooked them both.
It would be best to just rebuild it, so you get it all taken care of, because boost affects, the whole motor!:read:
You’re right maybe I should just rebuild. Alright its settle Im going to rebuild my engine but I was just wondering if I could use the old rods? Remember Im on a budget!

are you serious? “insert junkman saying here” he’s a MOD man, thats his job.
clutch- reusing rods would be like going backwards for a build. they can be a weak point when it comes to boost. this depends on your power goals though. it just wouldn’t be recommened. you could shot peen them i guess, but for the price, why not get something new, that is made to handle boost?
comp test then leakdown if anything
i boosted mine at for a few k miles im at 199,000 now
Do what the Late1 said and shot peen them! I t makes them alot stronger and get rid of all the stress rising points! Also when you rebuild, if you can prevent it, i wouldnt bore it out! Just get it honed!
Alright thanks man! My bad, I guess I just forgot to write my location. I have another question about the rods. Why do eagle rods cost less than crower rods? I think I read somewhere around here that they used the eagle rods without any problems. I think Im going with the eagle rods, they’re cheaper.lol

well his job should be to keep arguments like this out of the forums. i dont think his post helped the topic one bit. i believe that if he needs to add/change something about his profile, u should email him about it. on most forums it would be PMed to him. no reason to post meaningless things in a ASSISTANCE thread. But i guess since he’s a mod, he should be able to post whatever/wherever he wants?
Like your post helped one bit either? :ban:
There wouldn’t have been an arguement if you didn’t post your comment.
i dont even know which part of this thread to award the “wow just wow” award for posting excellence to.
Use the “DSM” equation.
Fast. Cheap. Reliable.
Pick 2.

or if u would have kept your comments out of the ASSISTANCE forum and in an email. here’s my first post in this thread:
and i figured I’d reply about the ridiculousness of your post since we were off topic anyway.
you forgot to imply that he enjoys cylindrical objects inserted into his rectum
