whats up… im trying to clear things up for myself. a search was done and i came up with nothing on my setup. i posted the same question on b20vtec.com and got mixed responses, so I figure i’d come to the best forum. so i got an ls in my DA9 right now with 89k on it. i want to boost hardcore, i was told that with fuel upgrades and new oem pistons and rings/valvetrain/port and polish and cam i believe that if i boosted 10ibs with a good tune i would be laying down 250-270whp? i need someone to clarify this as true. as soon as I get a good enough response ill order everything lol. also what are the good smaller parts to get such as oil catch can, etc. thanks
so you’re willing to shell out over $1k for quality headwork, but not $700 for forged pistons and rods?
wow.
im boosting 12 lbs on a completely stock motor. 276 whp.
for your set-up, the head work is nice to have but more importantly the forged rods and pistons are where your money should be going.
yea i fucked all that shit up lol… i meant stock head and shotpeened rods and arp rod bolts… im not too concerned with headwork because i dont plan on revving past 7,200…
ah.
much more sense be made.
that setup should prove acceptable for the lower end of your goal. just make sure you have a very competent machinist put it all together.
you can push 275 with a stock motor. just get some headstuds and a good tune. if you’re in jersey, look up xenocron. i think he’s up to something with a stock ls motor.
cool guys… thanks alot… as for the tune i was going to go with a jeff evans tune. hes tuned a couple of my friends cars and i heard nothing but good things about him. im on the market for a turbo kit… anyone wanna buy a jdm b18b head with low miles? lol
you will most DEFINITELY not be disappointed with jeff. excellent choice.
cool… have you had your car tuned there?? i’d like to hear some more feedback on him before i drop 600 beans lol
I had 300 to the wheels on my Stock LS a little over 2 years ago…ran strong and then I swapped it over for the current LSVTEC setup.
Chad, where are you in NJ? If your mind is still open to other tuning options, shoot me an email or give me a call…
im in south plainfield NJ… I think you might have tuned a couple of my friends cars. im not too sure. im really thinking about either Hondata or just run turbo edit. im not a fan of crome. theres alot of options i got to consider… i’ll definatly give you a call sometime soon. anyone else have a turbo LS??
ive been working on one but funds are limited this time of year so it’ll have to wait
true… did you run into any snags?? also if anyone can tell me the smaller parts that would be a good idea to have let me know for sure… I.E.: magnetic drain plug, oil catch can etc… id like to know if any of this stuff will get me more power and reliability. thanks alot fellas.
yea i havnt figured out what head im gonna use yet. vtec or plain ls.
either way the bottom end is gonna handle a whole bunch of boost, this is why money is tight this time of year, forged parts are not cheap:werd:
as for your questions… yes…and…yes
awesome thanks… bump
