250whp...

I have a G2 and lately i’ve been thinking that I want more power from it. It’s fine I guess but I want to have fun on the road whenever I want to. As of now the motor is a stock LS. This coming from a 1991 teg with around 55k on it. Again engine is still strong. I was thinking what kind of set-up will get me say 250-300whp. What upgrades are needed along with that to the already stock ls motor…? Any help/suggestions/advice/whatever is greatly appreciated!!

First of all, SEARCH!
Think about it, do you honestly think you are the first to ask that??!!!

Suggestions…

DONT SKIMP ON THE RODS
(better be safe then sorry)
GET IT TUNED!
LSD torque steer is a bitch
get it Sleeved

If you plan on going over 230ish I suggest sleeving the block. My brother’s build cracked a sleeve at 274.
now he has
ERL 84mm Darton sleeve LS motor B18B
ERL main work (Bore, Final Hone, Line Bore)
Wiseco 8.8:1 84mm Pistons with coated skirt
Manley Turbo Tuff Rods
ACL Race calico coated bearings
Balance and Blueprinted Short block

and a ton more. He is waiting til spring to dyno it again (put it into hibernation)

The only thing holding him back is his injectors, which are DSM 450s, which he plans to upgrade in the near future.

oh btw SEARCH! and research! you are not the first to ask that!!! think about it.

The G2IC turbo guide at the top of the page is a great resource and will answer most if not all of your questions. A great book to pick up is Corky Bell’s “Maximum Boost”. Check these both out and do a lot of searching, and all your questions will be answered! good luck.

if all you want is 250whp, you can run that on the stock engine. thats what im doing. just do a compression test to make sure everything is alright.

it really comes down to what your budget is. it is obviously better to get rods and pistons etc. but if your on a budget stock internals can handle that power no problem, you just need a good tune.

I dont mean to discredit him… but that is what we were told when we started building my brothers motor.
3 blocks later we just gave in and sleeved the block and majorly built the bottom end. 250whp is all my brother wanted also and 15 grand later we finally had it. And trust me, you say 250 now but it will never be enough. I have seen it too many times. I recommend just do it right the first time build the block for 500 hp and when 250 isnt enough, then just buy some new injectors, a new turbo and etc and turn the boost up. instead of blowing it up over and over.

well your brother was just unlucky and couldn’t hold himself. ive seen and read about hundreds of stock turbo b18a/b’s with absolutely no problems. its a chance you got to take.

here, just read through this thread and look at the setups. it’ll show you whats been done and what you need to do.

hmm… well thanks guys… but its not like i hopped on the computer and decided that i want to go boost! but i should’ve narrowed my search more… 250whp is a whole lot. maybe around the 200whp range is much better. and still is A WHOLE lot of power compared to the stock rated 130hp. how fast would it be?

btw that thread you found redteg is AWESOME

^^^ yep its my bible haha.

im going to be running 270whp on stock b18a in spring. so ill let you know how that works out for me.

right on awesome! go for it dude… i hope mines gets done late summer or fall cuz dont have the $ right now

just don’t forget to do a compression test before you mod the engine for turbo, if you plan on leaving the engine stock. but 55 000miles is really low. my teg has about 150 000 km which is around 92 000miles i believe, which is really low. i have 200psi of compression in all 4 cylinders and i beat this car like theres no tomorrow.

cool i work at at Cutter Ford and the mechanics and workers have honda’s that i can talk to. they help me out sometimes. which is really cool cuz i don’t know much about cars mechanically wise
