So im looking for a 3" exhaust fot my DA since im boosting it, ive done a whole lot of searching but havent been able to find anything else other then the thermal R&D.
Does anyone have pics of the thermal R&D exhaust for a DA? Or pics of any other type of 3" for our cars, doesnt matter if its custom or whatever, just looking to get an idea.
i used a company that deals through ebay that sells 3" mandrel bent exhaust pieces for our cars… i used that kit and a vibrant 3" race muffler… sound pretty good…
it made a hell of a sound. i bottom out often but never heard that before. actually flexed the downpipe and bent it a little on the block about a 1/4". but thats no problem. any way i had to redo that section to fit my 23mm sway bar. but it still sucks!

i used them before. the only part you will need to supply with the kit is a flange from the DP to the exhaust. the kit only comes with piping, hangers, one two piece flange and some hangers (iirc).
why? let me guess… cause “its SS bro”… kidding. stainless is only better if you have to deal with rust. most of california doesnt see any snow or road salt for that matter. other then coastline cars, most cars dont even have so much as surface rust. the last exhaust i saw that was beyond surface rust was a 93 civic that spent its entire life next to the shore. it needed a spot of replacement about 2" long. not exactly a budget killer repair.
for the flow requirements, there is no difference between the two piping types. $50 might be a cheap upgrade, but in this case its not a needed upgrade. unless as i said, you just want the “SS” factor which is pretty lame.
Red, where’d you get your turbo mani, dump and downpipe done at? I had mine custom made as well and it looks almost EXACTLY the same as yours only instead of black steel it’s stainless.
locally from a guy named richard. he’s an amazing fabricator. the manifold is one that he came up with. has the same flow as a ramhorn. the manifold is cast and the downpipe is just regular steel. he doesn’t like to make manifolds with stainless because they are a lot more prone to cracking plus double the price. nice setup you got! what turbo you running?
i realized you would need the SS. your post seemed to come across that you thought a SS upgrade would be good for the OP, which it wouldnt. that is the basis of my post.
shouldn’t be too loud. I had the greddy evo 2 exhaust on my rsx and it was rather quiet when it was boosted. it got louder when i took the turbo setup off and went back to NA.
I think it would sound great as long at thers a resonator in there, in fact im very much so thinking about doing this
Redtegra, thanks for the deatail pic. Im getting ready to make my own 3" exaust. Im gonna run my flange a little further back and a little higher and keep my fingers crossed:)
how close is that clearance between the pipe and the chasis over the control arm. im also running a 23 mm progess bar so im hoping ive got enuff room
