(31 May 2026) What are you doing with your Integra this week?

(Automatically generated thread, please reply with your actions this week!)

I gotta figure out what to do with this repair I did two years ago (I think), that isn’t holding up anymore.

Ouch. Was that body filler? Maybe short strand fiberglass would be a better adhering base to the metal.

It was. I sanded, body filled, primed, painted, clear coated. Somehow water still got in there.

That stinks. Sounds like you went through all the steps. Maybe you had a bad batch of primer. If I were gonna do it I would probably use a roll on/ brush on epoxy primer then upol fibral lite. Strong as short strand but easier sanding.

“upol fibral lite” WHA?

Some new fiberglass filler that is way stronger than bondo but is also way easier to spread and sand than traditional fiberglass filler. You can basically use it just like your first few passes of bondo with the added benefit of it being super durable.

Thanks! I’ll give it a shot!

I didn’t search it because I thought you had typos in there LOL

On a side note, I was thinking of getting the 3M Bondo version with the fiberglass. Is there any reason you choose UPOL vs 3M?

I just checked my wish list, and I had the 3M Bondo version in there from a few months ago. Just never pulled the trigger on the purchase.

That works too, but assuming it’s standard short strand fiberglass filler, it’s just a lot tougher to sand. It’s probably a little stronger. I would switch back to something like traditional short strand filler if I were tying to do something like fill a half dollar sized hole.

I guess this would be a good time to mention that my practical experience on the subject is non-existent. But I’ve watched just about every Pole Barn Garage video, and that guy is GOOD at practical bodywork and paint.

You need to grind that to bare metal and treat it. Use epoxy primer then do your bodywork. That will be the best way to do it if you can’t replace the roof skin

hm. I got it down to bare metal.

I did the body filler then primer, then paint. Is that the incorrect order? I should have done primer then body filler? I was following the directions on the paint repair kit

:frowning:

Yes, you need to make sure all the oxidation is gone or converted using a rust converter, then you use epoxy primer to seal it from reoxidizing again. A roll on primer from Eastwood would probably be easiest and leave a nice thick coat. Then do your filler and then primer/paint.

That explains why the chips are coming off the way they are. Appreciate that.

In Florida the humidity is going to be an issue as well. Bare steel will start to oxidize immediately. You need to get the first coat of something that is impervious to water vapor applied very quickly after the surface is prepared.

New to the forum, apologies if in wrong discussion area. We picked up a 1990 LS for my son around summer time 2025 when he was 15.5. He was highly interested in obtaining in a 90s integ/civic/crx/accord.

We found it through FB marketplace with full service records since purchased back in 1990. Seemed liked a good foundation and platform for him to launch his import tuning journey from.

Fast fwd to him passing his driver license test and starting to drive his own vehicle on his own. Interest peeked after driving the vehicle and we are off on the import journey. Feel like im 19 again scrambling for part and mods. Anyhoot below is what i have to share for my son’s journey.

When we purchased that car there was a horrible exhaust leak, muffler was replaced with universal muffler and piping so OEM exhaust fitting/flange (not a mechanic so bear with me) did not fix leak. So just replaced whole exhaust to Revel. Wouldn’t be my first mod of choice but made the most sense given the path my kid wanted to take with car.

I’m the original owner of a 1993 DA9. It has about 260k on the chassis and about 10K miles on a swapped B20B. I’m finally bringing the chassis back to life with Hardrace bushings and a Ground Control / Koni coilover kit, but before that its new wheels, tires and the Legend GS dual piston caliper and Mini Cooper rotor upgrade. This will be fun.

Wheels are Rota R-Specs 16x7 +45 in Gunmetal and Tires are Continental Sport 02.

Excellent tire choice. You should do some autocrossing with something as sticky as those
