.48 or .63 A/R for stock LS?

i am going turbo this summer, as soon as I get enough money.

I will be running:

BLOX T3 manifold

28x6x3 Intercooler (bar & plate)

2.5" charge pipes

HKS SSQV BOV

silicone Couplers

T-bolt clamps

2.5" downpipe -> straight pipe -> 2.5" exhaust

Stealthmode Oil lines

Tial 38mm wastegate

Garrett T3/T4 57 trim .63 or .48 A/R turbo ( is a different trim better too?)

TurboEdit tuning kit from xenocron w/ wideband and all that good stuff

DSM 450cc injectors

255lph fuel pump

adjustable cam gears

boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, Air fuel ratio gauge

i think thats about it, but it will be on a 1990 integra with a stock b18a, manual tranny, etc.

Goals:

somewhere in the 13’s (1/4 mile)

spool somewhere from 3000-4000 RPM

power all the way to redline

all on 7-9 psi of boost

240-300 WHP

I was just wondering if that looks good, and what turbo size i would need for my goals.

Any suggestions or comments welcome! thank you!

BTW, I searched for like 2 hours, plus all of the time i have been planning this.

keep searching and keep reading.

i personally think that turbo is too big for an LS. If this is going to be a daily driver ‘fast / fun’ car, i’d recommend something smaller like a 60 trim t3 with a 48 ar or a .63 AR. your best bet is to ride in someone’s car (honda) that already is boosted to tell if you like the power / where it spools. I ran a 57 trim t3/t4 (ballbearing) and before that a 60 trim t3 w/ a 48 ar on my gsr… the t3t4 made more power and was faster on the highway, but i personally liked the smaller turbo better. It spooled up faster, and didn’t lag at all. good luck with your project.

PS: GO WITH A 3" DOWNPIPE AND 3" EXHAUST it will help everything spool up faster, and make more power as well. kteller has some great pieces, i’d recommend that. i loved mine.

.48 for less lag

3inch dp is nice
but hard/ to do with stock crossmember
unless u get aftermarket or notch alot

well, im going to be building a motor in the future, and hoping for 400+ WHP, but I will probably get a GT3076R turbo for that. is a T3 .48 A/R going to be able to make 250+ WHP? that is why I was thinking of the T3/T4. I want a car that spools at 3k-4k RPM and makes a lot of power, so the T3/T4 seemed perfect. Can anyone with experience of T3/T4 turbos on LS motors chime in about spool time and numbers? that would be great! thanks for theadvice btw!

does anyone have a link to a T3 or any other turbo that they think would work i my setup? or any suggestions on trim, a/r, brand, etc? thanks

edit: I found a Precision SC50 for a pretty good price brand new, would it spool faster than the T3/T04e 57 trim .63 A/R from garrett? I know it is capable of 400+ WHP, so I know it will provide the power, just wondering abouit the spool time.

48 is too small.

and by 48 do u mean the Garrett or Aireasch 42 48?

if so then it is too small and it will die out.

i always say go with the bigger turbo that way ur gas milage is better.

50 trim t3/t4 48ar
hitting 380
on a gsr
umm yah

the stright t3 42.48 yah it will die out

i’m using t3/t04e .63 .60 57 trim stage 3 garrett, i get full boost around 4400rpm…bone stock LS pushing 13.8 psi 279whp 250tq…shooting for 350-380whp with my semi built motor…

sc50 is good, it will give u plenty of power at 7 psi.

the 42 48 probbaly will give u 250 at 10 psi or so.

i like that you get 13.8 psi at 4400 RPM, that would mean that I would get 7-9 psi by 3500-4000 RPM at least, right? also, about the SC50, there are no different trims or A/R’s for them, it is preconfigured, right? LMK! thank you guys! GL getting to your goals BTW!

i say 48 now and have fun with a broad powerband, then when you decide (and you will) to go bigger, do a big upgrade.

that is what i thought, but u forget that gas is at least 3.40 a gallon and hitting full boost in every gear at 2800 sucks.

less thottle = no boost

i got a t3/t04e 57 trim with .48 and im happy with that decision. It hits about 11 psi at 4000 then goes to about 13.8 ish at 5500 and holds that to 7 grand

if i punch the gas in 2nd gear at around 3000 rpm i get 6 psi instantly

DYNO TOMMOROW

im stuck between these 4:

Precision SC50 turbo .63 or .48 A/R- $730 shipped (which would work better 4 me?)

Precision SC34 .63 A/R- $730 shipped

Garrett T3/T04E 57 trim .63 A/R- $550 shipped

Garrett T3/T04E 57 trim .48 A/R- $550 shipped

I think i want a .63 because of gas milage like compton’s said, but not sure. I wanted to know if the .48 on the 57 trim can make up to 350 WHP on the LS, for future use. any help is apreciated! thanks!

Does anyone think the price difference is worth it/not worth it for the garret compared to precision? thanx!

all on 7-9 psi of boost

240-300 WHP

i dynoed 235whp at like 11 psi but i still gotta work out a few bugs becasue im getting a little bit of boost creep so we couldnt tune properly. id go with the .63 if u want bigger numbers

ok thanks! i think i will go with .63, but if anyone else has an opinion, share it! thanks~!

i think the key is knowing the difference. with the .48, you’ll have a broader powerband with the quicker spool, but with the high end topping out sooner. the .63 will have a more narrow powerband and spool later, but have plenty of top end.

that’s why i think the .48 will be more practical for your first setup. everyday-driving on the street with nice torque in the midrange…

turbo kit part out

less thottle = no boost

not with a 42/48
