$500 to spend. What would you do?

I’m sick of bein slow. It’s sad when I see Luminas goin quicker then me. Damn you b16. Damn you. Anyway. Spending limit around $500-$800. What would you do? Yeah, I know there’s not much but I got to start somewhere. Are cams worth it? Flywheel? Alezzas? haha. I already have cai, header, exhaust, gsr tranny, short shifter.

Save your money and put it toward a turbo. IMO thats the best road to go.

I’m wanting to stay NA.

dont go cams. you would only be able to get stage 1’s because stage 2’s usually require springs/retainers… which would put you over $500. Stage 1’s wouldnt really make a huge noticable difference.

I say save it.
If you dont want to save it, I say intake mani/throttle body.
check out polarbeartuning.com. They sell OEM parts bored and ported. The machine work is excellent.

i would check out the flywheel option. I have an ACT prolite 8lb one and i love it. besides that i would check out getting some internals or do some weight loss. thats what i would do

nitrous. you have to get nitrous.

clutch/lightened flywheel combo, you will be set for your next ‘big’ upgrade

:iagree:

Save your $500 and stop trying to race cars with more cylinders than you in a straight line.

Done and done…

Lol!

or. get nitrous and beat them. but yea. you have a place with a basically stock car. and thats in the 16’s. But if you want to go fast without spending money then you’re going to take some risks.

$500-800 is not really much to work with to be honest, mostly every n/a engine part is costly, and won’t gain much performance to brag about, unless you buy a lot of parts all at once. If you were talking turbo then that amount of money will surely make a difference. I would suggest internals, JDM ITR pistons and rods, save some more then work on the valve train, start out with some nice cams, bc4, or skunk2s. So your cr will be a bit higher and you’ll notice more of a difference then you do now with your current setup.

Personally, Id buy tires and track sessions… then go have fun.

500-800 is’nt really going to get you anywhere with an n/a b16.

Your best bet is to save for a little more and buy yourself a b18c1 shortblock, or if your comptetent enough an ls/vtec.

Don’t get Nos on that setup. You have to prep for Nos to keep it reliable. Bottomend work & all that. Use Nos one too many times w/o preparing your motor for it; & you’ll be saving for a new one. It’s really only for drag cars anyway. Can’t really use on the street; driving around & shit.

Werd to Knowledge420. He knows what he’s talkin bout…Willis. :rimshot:
" Pass the dutchie on the lefthand side!"
:getsome: :manual:

Well since you have a B16…why not swap in a LS block, use the B16 pistons, and have a nice lsvtec set-up goin’ for ya…little more tq, possibly a small gain in bhp…

you can run a 50 dry shot on a bone stock b16 all day long… don’t believe me???

i was assuming he was racing the chevy lumina at the track, not on the street. think about it though. he can put the nitrous on, hook it up when he needs it. get boost when he needs it, and unhook it and drive a regular daily driver all day long.

or…he could just put some cast pistons in a LS block and rev the piss out of it. oh yea. thats much better.

Because you can’t build a ls/vtec reliably for $500

these motors are not made to race in a straight line thats why you get beat, if you wanted to race straight why did you get a honda? but anyways theres nothing you can get with 500 bucks to increase power.

go get your head ported?

id rather be able to out handle someone and brake better than wasting money into the motor unless you have a good motor to start with, i could care less who beats me in a straight line, its all about seeing if someone can beat me in cornering and braking
