does anyone know if i can put a 90-93 engine and trans in a 94 - up integra? do i have to change motor mounts or is it a plug n play?
Motor will bolt right in. Tranny is cable vs hydro which the g3’s use. So you would have to convery there.
Also electronics might be diffrent depending on the OBD of the motor.
why the hell would you want to do that? i mean, i could understand a completely newly rebuilt engine with more power, but all things equal why put an older engine into a newer car?
^cut the guy some slack. maybe hes got an engine and a shell. maybe he acquired them from friends/family/awesome deal. maybe he just had an extra and then got the other. i could understand doing this if you were getting a car for a family member, like a cousin or a lil sis/bro nice and cheap.
alternatively, maybe he considering building it up. either way, it’s a cheap starting point for a vehicle.
also illegal in any state they care about emissions.
hey cut the guy some slack.
he’s a dumbass and doesn’t know potential legal conflicts for doing what he wants to do. just let him do it and get caught. then the “fuck the police they fucking suck i’m a dumb n00b” thread will be that much more hilariously ironic.
lmfao…i didnt know that was illegal. fck it ill do it neway fck the police. but seriously i wanted to do it cuz i can get the shell for cheap and i desperatly need a new shell
well, if thats the case, you will still need to find a hydro tranny.
lmfao…i didnt know that was illegal. fck it ill do it neway fck the police
wow just wow that is all…
how and y is it illegal i c alot of peeps opposing to this
i thought it would b like a simple swap over such as my boys gsr it has a d20? crv motor with a gsr head
the motor you put into a car has to be of the same year or newer. i.e you can’t put a 90-91 or 92-93 motor into a 98 integra. when doing a motor swap, you MUST put ALL smog related parts according to the year of the motor when doing a swap. i.e if you swap a 95 b18c into a 92, you have to include all related smog equipment found on the 95 motor.
but hey if you don’t care about cops or the laws, do whatever you want. good luck trying to smog it or pass by inspection…
try RESEARCHING in your state what the laws are regarding swaps. then you’ll rethink the “simplicity” of it.
and yes, the motor can swap in with mods if you dont’ care about the other stuff mentioned. no it is not plug and play.
hey as long as you’re in a “fuck the police” mentality, go ahead and build a few illegal machine guns while you’re at it.
wow some some of you guys are real dicks.
he didnt ask about legality, smog, or any of the shit you guys are bringing up.
in my state its perfectly legal. in fact my integra has never had to go to smog/inspection…whatever you want to call it.
ive seen about 2 replys that actually can help the guy.
sue us.
You’s guys needs to turn those frowns upside down!!!
It may be illegal, but there are ways to get away with it. Do you live in an area that even has DEQ? If so, then if you have a cat, and it is tuned to run good, i.e…plugs, wires and filters, then you should be ok. DEQ has never recorded my engines serial #'s. They only look at the vin #. Also, if the motor has the same engine family as the original, such as if there was a B18B1, and you put a B18A1 in it, the tech that looks at it will only see that its a B series which is what it should have right? YES
You are 100% wrong. If your state has no emissions inspection then that does NOT = do what ever the hell you want. Emissions laws are put in place by the Federal Government, not State Government. This means it applies to all states.
Federal > State
For example, it is illegal in ANY state to remove items like the EGR, o2, or cat converter. Nice try though.
heavyhitterG2 - Can it be done… yes. Should it be done… no.
i have to disagree. im in alabama and we have no laws against any thing with swaps. the only major law we have is all vehicles must catalytic converter, and muffler…no smog shit…hell we dont even have inspections here…
ok enough of all this, you guys totally jacked his thread. now listen in the state of california it is illegal to put an older motor in a newer car. however the rules can be different in other states, each state has their own independent laws. and now to answer his question. yes i will bolt right in but you will want the clutch system from the DA because the DC has a hydro tranny. if you want i can get you the clutch system for a good price. or if you want just sell the tranny and get a DC2 hydro trans and then be direct bolt in. its up to you, but let me kno if you need anything.
well, seeing as the original poster lives in New York State, i can guaranfuckingtee you that his swap would be illegal.
But then, I’ve only helped 5 people with swaps who live out there, not like I would know or anything.
