9004 to 9007 Headlight Conversion. MUCH BRIGHTER.

Check to make sure your wiring is correct…Mine we wired wrong @ first and didn’t put out as much light…ALSO, I’m not sure why you would go from the H4H bulbs in the JDM 1 Piece headlights and downgrade to a 9007 bulb. The H4H Bulbs are MUCH brighter than a 9007 Bulb in terms of lumens…

because the H4 / H4H were hella hard to find and expensive :o

I’ve been working on this for a few days. I bought a soldering gun and a few other small pieces and spent all day today working leaving it as good as possible. I was side tracked for a while however by a corner light that cost me hours of work to get to because I nearly pulled out one head light to replace it. So a half hour ago I completed the soldering for the wiring on the two head lights. Tommorrow I will put the 9007’s in and piece back together the screws I took from one head light. I don’t know why they made it such a tight fit. Anyway having already previewed it I’m very psyched about the final outcome tommorrow.

switching over to the 9007 made such a big difference i love it i can see at night and have way better high beams great tip

I just want to say it works great it’s like day light if you put hand anywhere near the light I love it and have gotten plenty of stares from other drivers

Anyone know good places online to get some silverstars and how much are they about??

just got a set off ebay
was like $30can a set

How do I get the headlight housing out so I can cut the the plastic pieces?? Do I need to take off the front bumper?

Nice I got it working…took off the front bumper in order to cut the plastic in the housing. Splicing those wires was a pain in the ass though cuz I can barely get my hand in there but its WAY brighter!!! good stuff

all you do is take a small knife and chip at them until they come off no need to take off any bumpers

Fogs from 35 to 55 Watts!

I did this a little while back, the 9004 to 9007 conversion. I found it to be pretty straightforward. trimming out the tabs on the reflector was not even hard…just be careful and use a very sharp small X-ACTO, and you are done. I used solder and heat shrink tubing to do a decent job on the wiring switch.
I used the Silverstar 9007’s

So, when I went to buy some new fog light bulbs, I did not even know the stock ones are 35W, so I got the 55W silverstar fog bulbs. When I went to put them in, I noticed it. The 55W bulbs have a spade connector rather than a round connector. So, I soldered on the round connectors from the old bulbs to the new silverstar bulbs, after cutting the wires and stripping back a little, used some heat shrink tubing, and bang, I have nice white light to match the headlights…and much brighter too.

55W silverstar bulbs are easily twice as bright as OEM stanley 35W bulbs are, and it is a very easy mod. I think you can even buy a connector adapter (spade female to round male, etc)instead of cutting and soldering if you don’t want to. just be sure to use heat shrink tubing…it makes the installation look and perform a lot better.

The Sylvania Silverstar bulbs are

Foglamps: H3ST (55 Watts vs 35 Watts for H3 Stanley OEM)
Headlights: 9007 ST (55/65 Watts vs 45/65 for 9004)

I did this for the first time the other day. Took only about 20 mins. No soldering or cutting wires, just switched them around in the harness. I must say there is a huge difference, but I think I need to adjust them cuz their a little high. I used silverstars and they working good for me.

did this yesterday, took about ten minutes. the improvement in lighting is huge, no more dim yellow lights for me

all i can say is WOW… i had crappy ricer lights before now i have the silverstars… a world of difference…

did anyone upgrade their harness and add a relay just in case ?

NO…There’s no need to with the amount of extra power it’s drawing…It’s only 10 more amps or something that’s it’s pulling…You wouldn’t even notice any more heat off these bulbs, much less worrying about your wiring harness…

10 Amps? Are you crazy? That is an extra 120 watts. Rule of thumb, divide watts by volts to get amps.

I got these headlights off ebay and it has a harness that plugs into our stock headlight harness. can i still do the conversion because this light output sucks. if i can would i follow it the same way everyone else did.

I ordered Silverstars 9007… How would you all rate the difficulty? from 1-10… 10 being hard.

And i noticed afew of you did not need to cut the wires… Care to explain in details how to swap the wires without cutting?..

My sedan had JDM 1 pieces at one point so theres already soldering in area’s

And how do you angle/adjust the headlights? everytime i open a hood of a G2 thats the first thing i look for.

You all suck ass.

Ok anyways… I did the conversion, They are alot brighter then my Lumincs 9004 but still was expecting brighter :violin:

But good enough  .

I couldnt find the freaking clips to just unhook the wires, So i just had to crimp them together and use alot of electrical tape, Then i cut off and sanded off the 2 lower tabs
