92 gs B18 turbo or 92 GSR ? ( read )

Hey guys tried searching on b18 and b17 turbo setups and didnt really get the answer I was looking for.

Basicly I can buy a 92 GSR for $5500 and id have about $1200-1500 for a turbo build, If I buy the 92 GS has new tires, water pump, timing belt, good service history same kms as the gsr, But id have $3,500 left over to do the build with.

Now I know the b18 is a good engine to boost just lookin for some opionions.

I dont want a car thats going to be parked more then its driven so I want it done right, and from what I read b18 is a good place to start.

Note this car will be run on the track this season for the 1/4’s with my buddies.

I would go with the GS because you’ll have way more extra money and ls motors do good with boost. GS-R’s also have higher compression if that means anything to you.

Oh someone replied… Im lookin at a 91 RS and a 92 GS dark red, dont like the color much but its obd-1 and 10hp more on the 92-93 b18, plus he got a bunch of replaced parts, clutch engine tranny ect , the RS just has an exhaust and rims not sure color yet havent got ahold of this guy.

The 91 RS is much lighter than all the 1990-1993 LS, GS GSR
Not sure how much lighter by since there isnt sunroof and some other stuff but if u looking to built an all motor then I would say the obd0 convert to whatever then from there do ur built and boost? otherwise getting the 92 isnt any much different plus yes u might yield the 10hp extra but why if u going to change say im, (header) only if u dont go turbo otherwise waste of money if u plan to boost within months, exhaust, cam, camgears but LS are good for boost.

I say if the car runs well and tuned u pulling 3k into it will yield u a good result if u go all motor. all u need is tuning good and good tuning.

im kinda hung right now because the only ones who arent rediculously priced are RED 90-93 tegs and I really dont like red but im sure when its got a 3000$ turbo build in it i wont give a shit what color it is :stuck_out_tongue:

Go with the non vtec. If you buy it for 3500 or 3000, more money to spend on the turbo setup which mean more powah… :smiley:

Got my turbo kit put together.

-Turbonetics Turbo
-HKS SSQV Blow off valve
-Tial 38mm Waste gate
-FMIC ( not sure brand ) its fairly big
-custom manifold
-dsm injectors
-full 3" exh with borla muffler
-3" Down pipe
-Half rad

Goin to order a clutch tommorow not sure what to run yet, and need a fuel pump :stuck_out_tongue: But got all my gaskets ect together.
