93 DB2 "project-restore-build thread"

Glad you caught it! That’s why I always use AMEX & Paypal so I have double protection.

yea, he got 2 other people at the same time as me, we all got our money back thank god

That always scares the hell out of me when buying used. Glad you were able to catch it.

caught it, and ordered another one same day, this one was substantially more, but it should make me happy since this guy has great feedback… and hes a member on here as well

supposedly 2 weeks i will have this one in my hands, since it is coming from japan

so, pulled off my wheel, and picked up an NRG hug, NRG quick release, and NRG hub lock today while waiting for my spoon wheel to ship…

also noticed my crank pulley is busted. so looks like i need to order an OEM one

also started dissasembly since the new short block will be here this week, so i gotta get the car torn down so i can do a brake tuck, and get everything cleaned and painted for the new engine sorry the quality of photos goes from HD to Iphone lol

Brake tuck? If you’re going down the Oem route I’d suggest against a brake tuck. I think in the long run you’ll regret any significant tucking or shaving. That stuff I feel is a trend that’s on its way out. More importantly with the value of unmolested GS-Rs expected to climb you’d be better off in terms of long term value if you keep the brakes lines and wiring original (just refinish/rebuild as needed). You should do what you want obviously but if I were you I’d definitely take that into consideration. If you haven’t seen them already try to search and check out .J. (Jason’s) recent Civic build or Chad’s NSX build. These are proof that you can keep all those accessories people have removing and still have a beautiful bay.

well not necessarily a full on tuck, but i am thinking of changing to the RS model lines, this ABS is the biggest eye sore in the world to me, and also its just really in the way.

Gotcha, yeah, I can totally see wanting to do that. That’s how my GSR is. I still would really like to find an original DB2 at some point and just keep it that way - service the ABS so that hopefully it still functions, keep the AC…etc try and keep it stock + wheels, mild drop, and one piece headlights. :manual:

yea my abs works, the damn light comes on when it wants and stuff. but once this car is done, i am hoping it will be flawless and make my old db1 build look like a turd lol

so lots of goodies today for project white-trash!

OEM head gasket
OEM timing belt
OEM water pump
BRAND NEW OEM B17 short block
Spoon Duracon Knob

Well… That’s a thing of beauty!

Gotta LOVE that orange RDOT paint :inlove:

Why do you have it up for sale? To see if you can double your money? Just curious. Always saw the short block on Acura oem parts and wondered about it.

i have it up for sale, because i bought the last 2 that were in stock in the WORLD. not to double my money but to make a few dollars to help fund the build, that is not a crime as half the parts on this page are being resold at high prices for the same reason.

Never said it was a crime, just curious amigo. Good luck!

today i removed that ugly rear wiper, and did some more tear down up front. decided once everything is out, and i get all my tucking done of things i don’t want to keep. i will let her sit till i can swing a paint job. cuz i don’t wanna buy all kinds of nice suspension pieces and a traction bar and all that stuff and get over spray all over my goodies… lol…

today i pulled the head, starter, alternator bracket, intake manifold, fuel filter, and some hoses and wiring… this is where i am kinda stuck cuz i don’t have an engine hoist, but that is fine with me cuz i need to slow down…

my integra’s bunk buddy lol

no real updates, got some more parts in…ordered something i have always wanted, has a month to 2 month wait time, so i will keep that a secret till i have it in my hands

OEM valve cover gasket and plug seals
OEM vtec solenoid gasket
Spoon Sports Radiator cap
and 2 brand new OEM keys

car is tore down pretty good, got a friend who is gonna pull the old short block for me since i do not have a hoist. then i will start cleaning up wiring. and getting the odds and ends for the assembly of the new short block…
