Currently, 94 ls block with type R pistons and rods, eagle 4340 crank and main cap girdle. Stock ls head and stage-1 clutch and 12 lb flywheel(irrelevant but what the heck). I would love to throw on my t3 garret, but I don’t know what it will do. Or first if I should put on the b16a head, then turbo.
What are suggestions? I don’t even know what kind of compression ratio I have.
Thanks
bored? it should still be 81mm, or 81.5 for an overbore?
not sure what your cr is now, but that just means more careful tuning. i would be more worried about the strength of oem honda pistons/rods.
personally i would boost it to heck before adding vtec. no needem vtec unless you want more low end drivability or something.
btw why an eagle crank? needed to change stroke for the rods? you should check one of those calculators for your cr and specs and stuff.
Who just ‘has’ type r parts laying around?
sorry, they are 81mm, the type r pistons and rods were just laying around, and the crank was cheap enough so I went with that instead of the ls oem. The pistons are better shaped, and I believe lighter and the rods are the strongest of the b-series. What level of boost is a good safe number for the turbo and the fact that the block was not sleeved.
And for the comp. calculations, I do not understand what to type for finding the ls block going to a shorter stroke. (I think I am getting dumber by the second).

this could give u an idea of the type of compression you will be running with
I personally would do the VTEC head, then turbo. Then I am with XDEep, I would be worried about the rods. They may be the strongest OEM honda rods, but they aren’t made for boost.
If your T3 is smaller, then you should be good to boost like 7-10 psi.
There are different sizes of t-3’s? I typed in the code on the side, it came from a 82-83 volvo 240 dl. The snail part was rebuilt or replaced. (I don’t know what it’s called) What is the rpm range that it’s probably going to be effective?
I keep getting confused the piston dome has changed for a higher compression and I have used rods that are shorter for lower compression. I attempted to use that comp. calculator, apparently I have raised my compression to 9.89732 and I have the same 1797cc. displacement as a B18C1. The standard, I guess, is 9.20096 and 1834cc. Now I am kinda rethinking putting a turbo setup on because it will only blow up quicker.
I really appreciate the advice; just because I just don’t completely understand yet.
